Great weather here (15 degrees celsius/589 fahrenheit, clear skies) a new camera and the first holiday since god knows when; what better place to spend a day than at the local zoo?
Brought the 7D and the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and the Canon 70-300 IS USM with me.
First a visit to the indoor jungle; rather quiet in the zoo today, so not too much kids running around scaring the animals which is a good if you want to take photos.
This one I only saw once before:

Through a tunnel to the indoor desert, the first animals you'll find there are these Crotalus Ruber or red diamond rattlesnakes:

Beautiful Bobcat:

The Bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis):

Is he making that face for the camera..?:

To the Oceaan, a large collection of aquariums with mostly fish from the south-east Asia region; a good opportunity to try the f/2.8 Tamron and the 7D's high ISO settings:

Back outside and to the Sumatran tigers (Panthera tigris sumatrae), three sisters that have been there for about two years now.

This one looks a bit cranky, but that's probably because she can see her dinner at the other side of the fence (Several actually) but can't get to it:

The 8 shots/second setting really helps to get shots like this:

The animal relaxing here is called a Binturong, or Bearcat:

Very impressive! The Lizard, Ram, and the Gorilla if I had to pick three, however since we don't I like them all! Outstand job on the details.

Got some good stuff there....the lizard looks like it's straight out of 10,000BC.
The outdoor shots look a little overexposed, maybe a little experimenting with white balance or something would give some great results....like those tiger shots.

I agree, I think this also has to do with the extra layer of thick glass between the animals and me that reflects somewhat. Except for the sheep, lizard, penguin and african savannah animals all are behind glass.

Very cool series! (reminds me I have to upload a series of my own)
The first lizard shot is my favorite. The Rhino is cool too. There's something about the color green that I love in photos.
Thanks for sharing! :applause:
