After days of trying to figure out why the exc file for the big Mega patch would not work (the instructions said just replace the original IL-2 1946 exc with the modified one) I was able to unzip the patch then move the original exc patch out of the Ubisoft box and replace it with modified patch then I moved all of the original file contents back into the modifed IL-2 1946 patch...hurray it worked!!!
