Awesome looking bird! But I just cant get it to d/l from CBF! It stops & is showing as "d/l complete" at anything from 144 KB to 23 MB! This happens all the time with CBF ofr me(took 20 goes to get the Gannet!) Anyone have this hassle?Or a solution?

I've downloaded it ten times and I still have corrupt files in the sound and texture folders.

Rather than listen (read) the endless whining aimed at CBF (No the problem IS not with our downloads or our server) I am posting a link on the public forum at CBF for those whose internet connection is NOT capable of downloading large files from our site).

I hope you all enjoy Robs Vampire its a beautiful thing to look at and a pleasure to fly.

Thanks

No the problem IS not with our downloads or our server)

I beg to differ. I have tried the IE default downloader and and IDM, both download the correct size file but some of the contents are corrupt.

Tried on both XP and W7.

Extracting cockpit_panels.dds
CRC check failed
Vampire\texture\cockpit_panels.dds".
The size of the extracted file (5592515) does not match the uncompressed size (5592532) recorded in the Zip file.

Thank you to the creator, and for the H.U.! If I fly any jet, it has to be one of around this generation - have always liked the Vampire-lines, and was fortunate enough to see one perform a few years ago. I'll be looking forward to flying it tonight!

Leif,Im sorrry if my post came across as anti-CBF,it was not meant to be, you guys have some awesome files & I have a whole load of them! I suspect that it is something to do with my semi rural broadband, I dont know, maybe it doesnt like your IP (LOL) as some files do it, some dont(like the Austers) Go figure! Fortuneately I dont think it's related to the file size, otherwise I would now be without the B17 & PNW!
Anyway, the alternative d/l link is working fine(being able to use a d/l manager from there probably helps), keep up your good work

The CBF server certainly delivers this file at breakneck speed, but this is what I get after download. Two attempts have given the same result.

4337

Good looking aircraft, many of which flew out of RAF [RNAS maybe] Brawdy in Pembrokeshire. Fond memories of the "whistle" which was peculiar to this A/C. Dear Lord, that must be around 60 years ago.

I'll pop over the "other" link and see what's what. Thanks for a good looking aircraft.

Maurice.

Same thing for me. The first attempted download was rather fast. That one would not unzip. The second download attempt was a bit slower but still with good speeds and that file unzipped normally. All I can say is that it is an absolutely great model! Thank you Rob!!!

I eventually got it via the alternative link, very pretty it is too!

Some may not know, but a lot of this aircraft was made of wood, rather like the Mosquito. Now all we need is some nice 'phot-real' re-paints of the more exotic air forces that flew her.

Nice airplane! Thanks for the H/U. It DL'd and installed OK, but I seem to be missing the canopy glass in external view. The glass and glass_reflect.dds are in the texture file. Any ideas?

Nope, no SP2/Acc installed. I run FSX/SP1. Could this be the problem? I have not had this problem with other SP2/Acc aircraft.

Dave

have you tried the alternate download at CBF?

And for the Cactus kid -- the read me states clearly that ROb designed this model for SP2/Accel
it will not appear properly unless you have both installed.

Thanks for this RyDraiggoch . I've just registered with CBF but it still won't d/l (75% the most I've got). Where is the alternate site?

The download issues appear to be because of data line noise problems.. If your data line is slow ( below 385 BPS ) and the server speeds are high ( T-1 or faster ) and your software doesnt negotiate the speed correctly, you can end up with crc erors all over the place.. If you use an Nvidia or other board with built in networking, you can go out and download the latest mobo drivers for that board and that should take care of the problem. if you use an addon card, check the vendors download page for the newest drivers.. if your running everything new already, it could be that theres a heavy load on the network on your end, or your Isp isnt filtering the lines as well as they should be. The solution there thugh, means upgrading your network, and i know how much that can cost and how it hurts..
