Hey folks - LTNS. :)

Was browsing around Quartermoon and thought about Netwings - saw it was currently down and figured I'd hop over here and see what the situation was.

Must say, she looks a lot different than I remember! Looks fancy, shiny, new. A fitting look for a site of this stature.

Look forward to seeing a lot of old friends. :)

What's been up with me? Well, I just turned 26 back in February, lost my job and am still looking! lol

Right now, I've got two options on my horizon - Columbus PD and the Army.

I'm running through both processes right now, but haven't signed anything. The Army is waiting for my medical records and I take the Police Officer Exam on April 3rd. I'd like to get the Police academy gig and then go reserves. I like Columbus.

But, you do what you have to do. :)

For a while, I shaved my head - kinda liked it, but my mother hated it when I sprung it on her when I went to visit. :D

I now have hair, but I'm keeping it nice and short. ;)

Well, given my druthers, I'd rather do the Air Force.

However, at my height, I'm waaaaaaay over standards. lol

6'0".5, 254lbs. 18" neck. According to the army guy, my measurements put me right around 25% BMI. Air Force says I'd have to get down around 208! No way that's gonna happen anytime soon. I'm just a big dude (I'd post the pic I put up on the Quartermoon, but I think I turned some folks blind, so I'll spare you all the gory details :D ).

Start Army..In 4 years move on if its not for you..And it will look great on your resuame for the future job hunts..

best at whatever you decide..

Welcome to the NewHawks and SOH Cyber. Happy to have you.

Good luck with your PD and Army applications. Having served in the military, I believe it can be a good start on an active and productive life.

I'm back again and have an update for you folks. :)

I joined the Army. :)

I ship out to Basic at Fort Jackson, SC on August 4th. Then I head to AIT for MOS 13B - Cannon Crew Member at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. :)

Currently I'm going in as an E2 since I have college credits - if I pass the APFT prior to basic, I'll go in as an E3.

For those of you not familiar with 13B, here's a little video!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9hibrxyQh4

Thanks to all the PT I've done with a local recruiter, I'm down to 236 from my 255 as previously posted. :)

I'm looking forward to going - I'm excited. :) I know it's no walk in the park, but I'm excited to start the new chapter in my life - to put on that uniform for the first time, march at graduation...

Yes, I did have to sell it. No I don't have any new gear. :(

However, I did buy an HK45 .45 Semi-Auto pistol with my tax return this year - only to lose my job and then have to sell it less than a week after I purchased it for less than half of what I paid for it. :(

As soon as I have the $$$, I'm going to buy another one.

Here's a photoset of my (former) gun.

And here's a set I took when I first shot some rounds through it (100 rds).

Here's a review of the gun someone did.

Yes. Even the Coast Guard is "military" despite them falling under the Department of Homeland Security (formerly under the Department of Transportation) rather than the Department of Defense...

All members of the Coast Guard are subject to the Uniform of Military Justice. It is one of seven uniformed services. It is organized under the Department of Homeland Security, but become part of the Department of the Navy during wartime or when the President deems it necessary. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->:salute:

Now, can anyone name the other two uniformed services? :)

1. Army
2. Navy
3. Marines
4. Air Force
5. Coast Guard
6.
7.

BRAVO..:applause:
I started as a E2 and made E3 in AIT..Tanker School Ft Knox..
Then Overseas, finally made if to europe as a E5, it didn't last long..
Back to E4 then to CPL..E4 then to E-3 again then back to E-4 ..
All in one year!!..
Yea lots of ups and downs LOL..
But as the comamnder of our unit once said You Can't keep that man(hobbit) down for long..

Did time with the german ARMY, on the german armor, then to the british, then to the French and finally to the russian Armor training..
When I finally came home, in 76' I was glad for the time in the military.. But knew my life was ordered in a different way..

Never meant to be a lifer..LOL...
But they sure tried to convince me I needed to stay a solider..
Promised more Rank, and money.. I almost took it..
Glad I didn't now..

But I do hope you Find being in the ARMY as rewarding as I did..

Have a freind from those days, still in my life 37 years later..
We often laugh about our days in the ARMY..
And it is a bond that was formed in Combat, and has never been Broken..
God Bless you..

When I was your age, it was cut short, but not shaved. The navy did allow some relaxation. Nowdays, I have no choice other than look like you. :icon_lol:

Bless ya though mate, I don't miss my hair a bit, especially this time of year where I live.

I believe another is the Department of Health or something like that.

Merchant Marine? Salvation Army?

Glad I didn't now..

I just did a recruiting table for the Army with a couple SGTs at a local shindig. Retired 2x Purple Heart CSM stopped by and shot the **** with us. 35yrs he had. He was at the end of his contract and as a CSM, they really wanted to retain him. They offered him a Silver Star to stay in. He said that's when he knew it was time to go. He said you don't deserve medals or decorations or get them for being a warm body in a chair. You earn them. That's why as a CSM he went out on patrols with guys in Iraq. That's one helluva soldier right there - I only hope I can prove similar in character to him.

Well, it's nice and short right now, not shaved - mom didn't like that one bit when I came home with that surprise, so I've grown it out, bought my own clippers and shave it down to #1 when it's getting long. :D

Thanks for the support, folks. :)
