This is what i have. . . I had it built by a local computer builder who is familiar with FS and overclocking. He's known to a number of simmers and all had good fortune with his work - i had it o/c'd to 3.8.

I have been having problems with the new computer received in early Feb. At first it seemed ok for about the first week or so. Then, when I booted up, sometimes the monitor would go right into ‘power save mode’, and go to sleep directly. Then I had to shut down the system by holding down the cpu’s power button. Other times (as I held my breath), it would go into power save mode right away, but then came to life a few seconds later – immediately taking me into the bios settings. Then, I simply navigated over to the exit heading and ‘save configuration and exit’, THEN, the monitor went into power save mode and the screen went black and from there, there was nothing I could do but to shut down.

The builder picked up the machine and took it back to the shop. he adjusted the o/c settings and tested it under load for 48 hours. he returned it to me and after only a few more hours of use without incident, it started doing it again. At start up the monitor immediately goes into power save mode and goes black - unable to wake it up from there. The builder came by tonight and it did just what i described at startup. he went into the bios and returned it to stock speed and it started right up. So, he's got it again - and is suggesting that perhaps he needs to reduce the overclock from 3.8 to 3.6. (file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5CDONNE%7E1.BOH%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTem p%5Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml)

This seems to be a recurring problem. All the components seem to check out ok. i hate to have to loose performance from 3.8 to 3.6. I'm really eager to start flying on this machine - but have to get this thing stabilized. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Is it stable and reliable at 3.6 GHz?

I can't say as the builder hasn't checked it at that speed. I'll let you know.
