I'm looking for an "UnObtanium" program - CfsMe2 Beta.

It's not here, and the Simviation link is dead.

Any kind souls out there with a working ZIP copy care to share ?

Thanks in Advance

Thanks to EC's generosity, I received and installed CfsMe2.

However, it refuses to run [I have a Dell 1525 with Win XP SP3].

I've read the instructions until the electrons shredded, installed the necessary peripheral DLLs and VBasic stuff, redirected the INI file, etc, to no avail... is there a trick to making it go ?

Or Do I need to have an installation of CFS2 in C:\Program Files\MicroSoft Games ?

ARGH !

TIA

Hello SC,

as I told you, I had never tried this addon. Now, on reading your post, I have looked at the files and found this:

1- You need the vbrun300.dll in your system

2- On opening with notepad the cfsme.ini you can find

[CfsMe]
; This is the folder where you store your missions
cfsdir=c:\Fs\Cfs2
missiondir=c:\Fs\Cfs2\Missions
map=c:\cfswork\LoWorld.dat
printfile=c:\cfswork\print.txt
; Example alternatives
;cfsdir=c:\Progra~1\CombatFS

You should change the blue lines to point to your Cfs2 path
You could change the red lines to poin to a path you should be comfortable with: maybe under your Cfs2 install.

Both the cfsme.dll and vbasm.dll I don't know if them should be placed in the MODULES folder of Cfs2, in the System32 folder under the WINDOWS one, or left in the work folder for this addon: I suspect the good one is the last option. Anyway you can try all of them.

Good luck, and let us know

Just installed it, leaving the dlls in the cfsme folder and creating a folder under a Cfs2 install to put in the LoWorld.dat modifying accordingly the paths and it works (at least, it lets create a new mission...). I had to install the vbrun300.dll in the Sytem32 folder.

I set up a new CFS2 install as noted below, but no work:

[CfsMe]
; This is the folder where you store your missions
cfsdir=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 2\
missiondir=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 2\Missions\
map=E:\Program Files\Abacus\CFS2_ME\LoWorld.dat
printfile=E:\Program Files\Abacus\CFS2_ME\print.txt
; Example alternatives
;cfsdir=E:\Program Files\Abacus\CFS2_ME\

Where did you install the LOWORLD.DAT file ?

I made a folder under J:\Fly\CFS2_Doa\ and named it Workmis. Then moved the LoWorld.dat file to it. The cfsme2.exe, and Cfsme.ini, the help files and the cfsme.dll and vbasm.dll I left in a folder in the desktop, outside CFS2. Then changed the lines in Cfsme.ini to:

[CfsMe]
cfsdir=j:\Fly\Cfs2_Doa
missiondir=j:\Fly\Cfs2_Doa\Missions
map=j:\Fly\Cfs2_Doa\workmis\LoWorld.dat
printfile=j:\Fly\Cfs2_Doa\workmis\print.txt

BTW, J is an external drive where I run all my CFS2 installs.

Hope it helps
