Virtual Vietnam Wall

This is a pretty cool site. I think it's awesome that someone took the time to do this.

Someone sent me the link below which is a virtual wall of all those lost during the Viet Nam war with the names, bio's and other information on our lost comrades. It is a very interesting link, and those who served in that time frame and lost friends or family can look them up on this site. Pass it on to other veterans who you think would appreciate this.

First click on a state......then when it opens .....the city....then the KIA's name........then it should show you a picture of the person or at least his bio and medals......also allows you to record a short written tribute!! You can also search by specific name.

rayrey10~ Thank you so much for sharing the link! I too, thinks it's awesome that someone took the time to put it all together. Nothing beats seeing the "real" thing, however, this is certainly another way to pay your respect and have a moment of silence for these brave souls.

When my hubby and I went to D.C. two years ago, three places made us very emotional:

Arlington Cemetery
Vietnam Wall
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

We plan on going to D.C. again this year, and again, we will go visit all those places.

I remember the refrain uttered immediately after seeing the memorial. The vets kept saying, "It's the names, man!" That's what they loved about it.

The more these memorials focus individually upon those who made the ultimate sacrifice, the more poignancy and meaning they gain.

It's the people. And, it will always be the people.

Thanks for the link. I was looking at the casualties from town I grew up in (only 1 KIA) and my current home town...found a member of my wife's family listed. I am going to see if I can track down a photo of him and get it added to the site once it is back up and running (they are doing software updates at the current time). Will be interesting to find some info on him and get a tribute written and posted.

C9G - make sure you check out the WWII Memorial too, I think it's pretty impressive too, as is the Holocaust Museum.

If you've never been to a Sunset Parade at the Marine Corps War Memorial (often incorrectly referred to as the Iwo Jima Memorial) or the Evening Parade at Marine Corps Barracks D.C. (8th & I) you should definitely go. Here's the link in case your interested: http://www.mbw.usmc.mil/

I try to go to D.C. at least once a year and catch either one of the parades, and visit at least one of the war memorials.

I went thru the site and found several buddies, family menbers ..I have visited the Wall several times and found all the names of friends and relatives..i have rubbings of them put away ...

YES You must see the Holocaust Museum next time you are in DC..plan the day around it...AWSOME !
