I just downloaded this, and will be trying it. I have seen another Youtube video of an airliner landing on this runway before, but never THIS close to a catastrophe!!!

Anyway, it really looks challenging!!!!

The real landing:

File Description:
I have created the next in, The Most Dangerous Airport Mission Series: namely Toncontin. The missions are real and hectic, both for you and the aircraft. The flight is a scheduled Continental Airlines flight. The Toncontin Intl is rated by some as the most dangerous airport, due to it's approach, it has a 180° left bank, just before landing on runway 02. The airport is not so famous for this approach and numerous accidents have closed the airport in 2008 but it has been reopened after a serious upgrade. The setting are as follows: Time and weather are set as Online Day Weather and Stormy FSX Day weaqther. Due to the runway 02 approach not being programmed into FSX, ignore the ATC vectoring and fly the approach indicated on the GPS and mission pointer. The approach is adapted from the real approach charts.

An update, of sorts.

I have spent the entire day, trying to get this mission even set up, so I can try to fly it, but without success.

The aircraft for the mission is the POSKY 757-200. The author of the file suggests the file to get was at Simviation (oh joy), and it took me hours to download it, naturally. Finally got it, and installed it though. But I STILL get an "initialization failure". Additionally, the author recommends installing a mesh for South America, called "dem76m_centralamerica.zip". I can't find this file. I read on a Flightsim.com forum that it was on FSGenesis site, but could not find it there, or anywhere else, for that matter.

Can anyone provide some advice here on how to fix this? I emailed the author with the same questions, and will post again if/when he replies.

Thanks.

Hi Folks

NC -
Robbie persists in issuing these incorrectly configured packages. :isadizzy:

To fix both the paths and missing flightplans -

Create a folder called "Most_Dangerous_Airports"
move all Robbie's folders & files into there.

Tontonic Day
Look in the folder named Tontonic Day
Using Notepad open the .flt file
scroll to near the end of the file,
find & replace -

Still no go.

I made all the changes, but whenever I select the mission, I get an initialization failure. Something to do with the aircraft type. I tried changing the type listed in the .flt file, but all that does is change the aircraft type listed in the initialization failure....

This is friggin' maddening. Grrrrrrrrrrrr...........

Here are pictures of the initialization failure notices.

The aircraft listed in the mission, as released by Robbie, is the POSKY 757. I need to add that, although I went to the POSKY site, and checked their Download section, I do not see the Base Aircraft package listed. There are Effects files, Winglet Updates, and Virtual Cockpit Textures only......

In Robbie's Readme text file, he mentions a specific 757 file download, found on Simviation, which I did download/install. I tried modifying the .flt plan to reflect that aircraft, but had no effect. The same error occurs.

The first error, listing the Delta Airlines OC POSKY Boeing 757-200 is the one Robbie has in the mission flt plan

The second error pictured, B757-200-PW-PW2043 is the one suggested by Robbie as the one HE downloaded, but I get the same error message as before.

Hi,

I did not have the Posky 757 either, so I did what Paul Suggested on the Path to the Flight Plan and changed the mission.flt file located in \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Missions\My Missions\toncontin\Tontonic Day\ - Folder -

I changed this line from -

[Sim.0]
Sim=Delta Airlines OC POSKY Boeing 757-200

to

[Sim.0]
Sim=Boeing 737-800 Paint2

and it works for me -

Cheers !!

I found the problem. I had been copying/pasting information from the "SIM" line in the aircraft.cfg file, vs the "TITLE" line....and then pasting into the Mission.FLT file.

Now everything works.

THANKS for the posts, because that gave me the information on where I was screwing up!!!

Hi Folks

Robbie -
Please see your email inbox.

I've included a zipped 'staging area' folder structure,
plus some other bits.

Look forward to your future missions.
