OTC drugs that is, aspirin, Tylenol, Benedryl, etc. Ground up one patch in a cornucopia mix and applied it to a microscope slide and let it recrystallize.
That mix turn out the best photo of the session. The crystals were a bit thicker than others, hence the polarized light did not go through all. So I also lit it from about 45 degrees above the stage and what wonders appeared as I turned the polarizing adjusting filter. The light above rendered relief and shadows, gold blues and grays, and the polarized lighting rendered rainbow colors from the thin birefringent crystals.
