Does this cast doubt on ethanol as an economically viable endeavor or was this just a poorly run business?

Don't feel bad CM. I've been seeing it too but with a different name. I think SOH has been hacked again..... but hopefully I'm wrong. I sent Ickie, or whoever gets them, a report about it lastnight.

About ethanol, good. I hope it all goes bottoms up. I don't want it in my gas but you cannot find any station in DE that is without it. It will ruin your engine over time. And that makes me . It's 10% of the gas we buy here.

Nothing wrong,
It's bug left over from the server crash...Current posts that have the same sequence/server number that were edited prior to the server crash suffer from this...<!-- / message -->

Corn is food not gas. Glad to see ethanol go bottoms. If they want to make bio fuel they can make it out of somthing that we don't eat or feed to are farm animals.

Not surprising at all. While ethanol can work as an alternative fuel, producing it from corn is stunningly un-efficient, and the entire ethanol "industry" in the US is only financially viable as long as the government provides huge subsidies to producers to keep them from going bankrupt.

In this case, it sounds like the company just made some stupid decisions, and managed to hedge themselves so that they would be in severe financial trouble if corn prices ever dropped below the record highs of this summer.

Will we officially be in a depression if the bra industry goes bust? :jump::jump:

Got a big VeraSun ethanol plant within visual distance of the house. It's only 5 years old. Lot's of folks concerned here where I live. Hate to see someone lose their job, especially this time of year here when it's getting cold outside. Been praying for them. :kilroy:
