love the RF-4, my favourite of all Phantom Sub-Types... especially paired to Greek Markings...
I have a personal term for all pilots who fly the Phantom for the EPA (Ellinikh Polemikh Aeroporia / Hellenic Air Force), and 1 word of that for anyone who has ever flown the Phabulous Phantom, 'Assos', simply.. Aces.

Van Halen and F4's in one video, simply awesome, such an icon of the jet age.

Don't know who made that video, but he must have some serious money invested in scenery packages...money well spent I think as it looked totally real. I have seen some very sharp videos taken in FSX, but nothing like that...photo real to the extreme. And the effects he used on the Phantoms...WOW! Especially the one water effect as the Phantom was down low and caused the wakes....amazing.

I have always loved the Phantom....it is by far my favorite "modern" jet...followed by the F-8 and A-7...pretty much lost interest in jets produced after the Vietnam Era...the A-10 I like but no other modern birds.

PS: Yes, I know that the video was of real Phantoms in the real world...was just being cheeky.

Oh MAN KD & Smoothie. You guys took 30 years off of me with those videos. I swear my joystick even stiffened. :jump:

I loved the shots of the rejoins. The water shots reminded me of how you could drop the gear and flaps then slow down low over the water. The attitude would get nose high. Then you could tickle the afterburners and fly down the water at that attitude parting the water.

Thanks for the memories. Too bad they always overlay the soundtracks with music. The J-79s are all the music I need to hear.

....I am drooling for an FSX RF-4 variant that is up to the standard of the Cloud9 release. Hopefully A2A will give us an F-4E (and include a paintkit at release for once), and also give us an RF-4C or E.

Talk about TONS of repaints waiting to happen...

It is incomprehensible that the Cloud9 release was not updated for FSX, and RESOLD as a new release if required to justify the time spent upgrading it-- I would have bought it again at FULL PRICE for FSX.

I want a PHANTOM, and I want a TALON!!! (And a good native FSX T-Bird TOO...). I just all gets better and better, doesn't it?

Kent, I think I remember reading where the individual who did the Cloud9 Phantom is no longer associated with them. Evidently, he had the rights to the model.

I am with you on the Talon. Especially if it is the "C" model.

....in FSX? I recognize you need another panel, but I never could get it to fly correctly, I could not get the canopies to open/close, the flaps and speed brakes to work correctly...etc., etc.

If someone has a workaround that makes this gem workable in FSX, I'd love to hear about it.

Regards,

Kent :salute:

Nice thread!

I prefer the regular Diesels though, especially the -D or -E for the gun(pod). The recce nose looks just awful.

For funsies: Old shots of some Rhino action in Strike Fighters.
