Well that is a question. To tell you the truth I started in FSDS and moved to gmax despite all the warnings how hard it is. It is exacting and the naming conventions must be adhered to etc. It is not impossible at all. It takes a no fear attitude, a recognition that you will fail, become frustrated, want to quit and generally ask yourself, is this what I want to do with my freetime?

Truly, there is a great tutorial at

There was a tut by Gerard Van Der Haast, excellent beyond words!

here's a fun one

These are the tools I used to learn. Not saying I am the source of great advice (just ask my wife). I'll help anyone wanting to learn, as I have helped a few over the past couple of years.

I am learning to use G Max, and these tutorials have been a blessing during this process, as have the advice given by the Masters here at SOH..
It is a slow process for me, and i realize that it does take time..
To all whom maybe interested in Modeling, I say Give it a try,
If a Hobbit can try to learn this anyone can..
LOL..LOL..

Amen. It's also a lot of fun when something you hacked away at for weeks suddenly looks like the real thing.

My habitual broken record, but there's also a great tutorial series for the beginning modeller by Milton Shupe. It's targeted at FS9, but much in practice is the same for CFS3. By the time the differences start to show, it'll be obvious you need to read the CFS3 sdk for real.

There's a sticky New links for old for this at the Aircraft Design and Animation forum here at SOH:- http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=93 (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=93)

the direct link to the series is:- http://www.flightsimonline.com/C162/ (http://www.flightsimonline.com/C162/)
