Hey All,

A well thought out discussion on HDR from a favorite photography forum of mine.

Here is a bunch of photo's from my current favorite photographer - a Scottish housewife and freelance photographer - Barbara L. Jones. She frequently uses HDR techniques after capturing the image with a Canon 40D or 50D.

Hey All,

I wonder if she has ever taken a "clunker" of a photo? CG9 all those are great! If I had to pick 1 I couldn't.

My sentimental favorite is the Montana farmland scene as I grew up within a few miles of there. I had to look at that scenery every day of my childhood - pure He!! let me tell you. :173go1:

Actually I spend lots and lots of time studying her photo's as I think she gets it right in the field and at the computer - most all of the time. She understands composition, rule of thirds, no centering, horizons, light, texture - in summary integrating everything into the moment. At the computer she understands how to enhance photo's far more than I do. There is basically no way her camera captures the end result she gets. Her skills at the computer really enhance the end result.

There are lots of opportunities to pay money to attend workshops by photographers - I've never found one that that appealed to me that much but if she were ever to do one reasonably locally and at reasonable cost I'd be there in a heartbeat as I would like to understand her thought process in the field and the workflow (software and approach) she uses when she is enhancing photos at home.

Anytime I start thinking her photos are ordinary all I have to do is look at other landscape photographer efforts and I'm clued back in. Her portraits are good but there are others who are better. Her's just don't capture the intensity other photographers do - but that is OK as landscapes are what I'm into. If you are into landscapes let me clue you into my second favorite - Gale Rainwater

His are great but they commonly lack that certain pop/mood/intensity that Barbara's have.

I don't mean to rant/gush but her photo's simply awe me.
