The other day my neighbor showed me an envelpoe he got in the mail from the US Dept. of Commerce, no name on it just the address. Inside was all kinds of questions they felt they had no business asking. And After I looked thru it he promptly filed it back to where he pulled it out of..... #13.

I noticed that on the letter it said the recipient is required by U.S. Law to fill it out an d return it. I mentioned it to him and he said BS.... "this is my 'freedom of choice' not to". Can't say as I blame him.... I'd file it in #13 too.

Was it the Census form?

More than likely, they already recruited me last year fior the 2010 census. And the census is done through the Department of Commerse.

You'll be canvased if you don't send them back.

No, it was "The American Community Survey". But Census Bureau's name was in the with the Dept. of Commerce heading.

Haven't seen one here at our house yet.... and hope we don't either.

What the heck is "The American Community Survey"?

BTW: Census forms are required to be filled out by law. Now, I know some will say, "FU%$ that." LOL I am only reporting the law, as I understand it.

This said the same thing John, but it's not a Census form from what I read and understood. I imagine his is on the way to the dump as our trash was picked up early this morning, or I'd go and ask to look at it again. From the few questions I read, I'd say it's none of their damned business. To me it's "Profiling", and that's just plain wrong.

Yeah, funny that this should come up now, and I figured there would be much complaining and teeth-gnashing to follow. Seems the very document (the Constitution) that many are quick to quote when their gun rights, or whatever else, is felt to be threatened, actually requires a census to be done every 10 years... Can you imagine that?? The audacity of it all. Why should we be required to give anyone anything you might say. Well, it IS used to determine how many people go to that black hole in Washington to represent you, and if you don't comply, well, your state might just loose some of its people in Congress. Now that might not be so bad, eh?? Seems we probably have too many up there anyway... :applause:Check out this link for census information. Makes for interesting reading....

There is a minor difference between asking about one's family for a census count verses having to put your whole life story on file with the federal government.

You can ask about my family ... my sex, (or lack there of,) and/or number of members in my family and my family income ... outside of that any other information is not required for a population census.

From what I gathered this is not a Census survey. So if this happens to be planted in my mailbox, I'll plant it in the trash.

As far as I'm concerned they've no right to ask about my financial status.... As that is what he just told me it was for.

Census Department does all types of surveys, not just head counts. They do random financial analysis surveys as well.

If it is a legit request from the government, which it sounds like it is, a Field Representative with credentials (important to ask to see them) will show up on his doorstep next.
Tell him to remain calm. Remember, it's just a person doing their job.
Most of them are folks from the local community who do it as a part time job.
They'll be willing to work with him no matter what, but by law the survey needs to be completed.
It's one of the ways they know what the price of an egg was, from 1960 for example.

I've done it, it's not bad. Everything is confidential.
They just use the raw numbers to look for trends in the economy.
With the current situation, I would imagine they are taking a harder look at the numbers.

BTW, getting out of the survey is way, way harder and more time consuming than just doing the survey. :icon_lol:

Just you wait until it's free!

As far as this fascist government we now have I am very leery of ANY info that they already have on each and every one of us let alone any future requests they will have. Marxism, Communism, Fascism and Socialism...here in America and in the very government of We the People? Fundamental change indeed!

What in the world will we tell our grandchildren when they are old enough to understand? My grandparents would be appalled and ashamed. In fact, my parents already are. This is not the country I served 35 years ago at 17 years old.

Geesh, it's not an audit. That's a different department of the government. :icon_lol:

Person has a list of prepared questions they ask.
Might ask you, "How much you make this year?"
You could say "10 bucks", and that's what they write down. 10 bucks.
"How much you pay for a gallon of milk?" ...

Really funny to me, how folks asked to do a telephone or online survey for something "free", hop right on that bandwagon with all their personal info, no second thoughts... :mixedsmi:

I seriously have got way more issues with the NSA tapping into everyone's cell phones, email, and web browsing, and scanning that for "Homeland Security reasons", than I do with someone from the Department of Commerce asking me how much I spent on a candy bar this week.

And I agree. Don't get me started on the Health Care 'plan'... :icon_lol:

Look, ultimately if it means the local school district here gets a little more federal money to purchase milk for the kid's lunch programs, because milk prices are higher here in a small town, great. I did something for my local community.
Hurrah. Yippee. :kilroy:

They once told us in the military that a certain amount of paranoia is a good thing as it keeps you thinking. However I'm with you safn as this seems to be a violation of the Constitution this time of illegal search and seizure and until they are told hell no you can't it will continue and get worse I'm sorry to say.

Here's a fine example; the gov has already violated the 10th Amendment limiting Fed power over the states numerous times in the last year alone and NO ONE has said a word because it will cost the states billions in Fed aid programs if they don't comply...so what's next? Stay tuned; same bat channel, same bat time!

What's being searched and seized? My personal info that is none of their damn business...none.That's what.

And if I don't answer,I broke the law...wtf,where did I wake up.What right do they have to force me to give them any information concerning these matters, don't you get it? Where will it end,an inch at a time is how these bums invade your life.

This should be completely voluntary. It's all about freedom from intrusive government,if you choose to take a survey from them, fine....but here they are using the force of law to make you take it,that is not freedom.:USA-flag:

Geesh. No kidding. It's a questionaire to help in determining federal funding, not an arrest warrant.
It was actually nice to know my input mattered in how my tax money is handed out for a change.

Yes it seems harmless enough however I have seen it stated that whatever you tell these folks they write down right? Well suppose they compare your actual tax return vs. what you claimed on the census and there now exists a discrepancy. I DO NOT TRUST WHAT THEY CAN AND WILL DO BOTTOM LINE. Yet you do?

Did you ever think you'd see a Marxist President who's very shady associations in his past just don't matter? A radical preacher, radical bombers, a sheik who now has allegedly put him through school, an entire background of hard copy records concerning this alleged President can not be found or located or reviewed, people who worship Mao are in key positions in government, avowed Communists again in key positions, rampant socialist policies and actions and an economy which truly resembles fascism now??? And here in the US??? The gov now "owns" housing, insurance, banks, autos and now health care yet the eyes of the public are still shut tight to what this actually means? What will it take?

If you remember the White House initially wanted to take over the census. Why? To cook the books perhaps? To pad districts that don't exist with big $$ that is simply planned to be unaccountable in the end? Imaginary districts already have been created on the White House website my friend as was discovered a mere month or so ago. Yet this can't happen here as this is America! Right.

Sorry but I trust no one in this government anymore and neither should you Toastmaker. Yeah a census is simple enough... If you don't pay attention to exactly what they are doing we deserve what they do to us. Bad things happen when good men do nothing so welcome to the New World Order my friends. That's a conspiracy theory you say? Funny but their goals and what is happening to us here and elsewhere AND to others worldwide is one in the same. Just a mere coincidence I'm sure huh? Just what did you think when Obama stated that he's "a citizen of the world?"

And people thought NAFTA was a good thing too. Cap and Trade? Global Warming = hacked emails yet their agenda goes forward in Copenhagen regardless of what the truth means anymore. The response to the hacked emails was they need to be punished and not a word of the possible truth they contained. Continue to do nothing and you'll see what their agenda truly is.

Remember though it's just a simple census...

Those bolded items are opinions that not everyone here would ascribe. Those that do not agree with your opinions will sometimes feel a compulsion to debate and argue with you over them. That can lead to the thread being closed or moved.

So, if we want to keep the thread open for all, it would do well for all of us to be careful on stating alleged "facts."

p14u2nv
January 8th, 2010, 09:14
"Those bolded items are opinions..."

I understand your statement and your position however also understand that what I stated ARE indeed based on FACT. Do the research as I did. I have read Obama's book where he admits his involvement and views based in Marxism, he talks about Frank Marshall Davis being a surrogate father to him, an ADMITTED and gloriously self-proclaimed Marxist Communist, he admitted: "I Chose My Friends Carefully... Marxist Professors...", Urban Czar Adolfo Carrion Marxist, Diversity Czar Mark Lloyd Marxist, Bil Ayers (strong influence to Obama) admits he is a communist, Van Jones stated he is a communist, Anita Dunn listing two of her "favorite political philosophers" in a speech: Mother Teresa and... Mao Tse Tung, Carol M. Browner Global Warming Czar, Socialist International member and many others who's involvement is shaping what appears to be our new "fundamental" direction. The eye opener for all of my research was Obama's statement concerning America will be under fundamental change under his administration. I could go on but you get the point. ALL persons I speak of (either direct or indirect influences on our gov.) have admitted these anti American positions AND it's all in their own words AND in print, and some in audio and video too. What more would one need for proof of factual information? I have even read Rules for Radicals merely to understand their positions my friend. To me that is simply fact as it is in print but more importantly in their "own" words. Therefore what I stated is NOT simply a mere opinion of mine but their actual positions and philosophies. I can provide more information on more individuals BUT only on a private basis and ALL of it based on facts as admitted by each individual involved either directly as a member or indirectly as an influence in or on this administration for anyone interested.

My only intention is/was to inform what I have found through extremely avid research as I am very sure not many have the time to delve into these issues as deeply as I. This takes much time indeed. These things are very important as it is against the very fabric America was built upon which means it threatens the very freedoms that you and I enjoy right now because our very Constitution is now at stake. This will be all be very apparent and soon.

In closing I do NOT wish to argue with any one of you nor will I, nor do I want anyone to feel the need to argue with me by feeling they are forced into any certain position. That is NOT my intention at all. I just want as many as possible informed of the truth is all. We are all in this together remember my friends. We the People remember?

Sadly I am through so as to keep this thread open for others however.

GOD bless...
