firefox used to have a plug in, something that had to do with a fish, but i don't know if they have it anymore. other than that, i don't know how you would go about it.

Bill..

I remember awhile back I seen a program where I thought it saved the video file so you could watch it offline....but thats about all it did.... But come to think of it...I thought there was a website out there where you put the url of the youtube video in it, and it somehow put it into a file you could download.... I have no idea what it was though unfortunately.... I suppose just start googling it if you don't get any better answers....

Hi Bill
There are a few apps that will do this but I believe its a no no to save the vids from youtube.
Then again as the videos are streamed to your browser cache folder its downloaded anyway :)
these programs just save it to another location and convert them to other formats.

www.mediaconverter.org (http://www.mediaconverter.org)
easiest one i found, works great
you can put those vids into itunes as well, if you have an ipod that does videos etc, or you can just save it as an audio file, it does it all

Many thanks guys.

I tried a large number of files and converters. The best one I found was YouTube Downloader. It will also convert the file from a FLV (YouTube Flash Video Format) to what ever type you need. (The other ones had watermarks in the middle of the screen until you pay the activation, etc, etc).

You can find the YouTube convertor here;

Pretty cool what you can do these days...

Cantasia will capture just about anything and save it to virtually whatever codec you have installed -- real time streaming to avi for example.
It's about the best way to capture most things that can't be got any other way.
