My trip to NAS Pensacola sure did get me thinking about moving there. My house is just too big for just me now. If I can sell my place without too much hassle, I really think I'd like living in Pensacola again. The thought of living near NAS is nice; not to mention having the Naval Hospital so close too! Time to do some investigating!

Hi Chief; I am a little older than you and thinking the same way. I got a big old house, that I love, but, it's much more than I need. Hope ya get a great deal selling and buying.:salute:

I spoke to a realtor a little while ago. Doesn't look promising. Given the present economy, and specifically the real estate market - I will be really lucky to even sell my place anytime soon where I am. Nothing is moving. I am fortunate in that I don't HAVE to go anywhere. I'd like to. But I am not about to give someone a "steal" by losing my financial rear. I will stay here before I do that!

Is this the same Navy Chief that was looking for a "I Hate Florida" bumper sticker earlier in the year?

Yup, that's me! And I still have a problem with those Floridians (transplants from the northeast) with attitudes! But I do like Pensacola; having lived there from 1990-93.

Who knows, maybe one of those "transplants" would like to make a trade?

Heh, heh.......

He's young and sharp C9G, not like us old foggies that have gone through that age and beyond.

I don't know, I have never had a generational gap. When I was young, we hunted and fished and drank with elders. Of course back then, a man was a man at 18 and could get spirits and cigs with ease. I have always alloted that anyone old enough to wear a uniform and fight for his country is old enough to vote, drink, and smoke.

I get along with my two boys and all my nieces and nephews, because I have always approached them with the truth, no hiding behind false covers for me. I am as open with them as I am with an adult. I am more liberal in approaching wrong doings, because I believe that anyone with a conscience knows good from bad and will feel remorse for wrong doings. Those without a conscience (and IMHO there are more of these in the world) are not going to have remorse regardless of punishment.

My trick is to find those that have a conscience and those that do not. And yes, there are at least three in my family beyond hope, my B-I-L being one of them. These people find blame on every one but themselves for all that has happened to them. In turn, I have no remorse or conscience toward them. I have turned three people in my life away from me simply because I went as far as I could in trying to help them recover, two from alcohol, one from heroin. You can only do so much and if the other party cares not to help himself or except responsibility that the reason they are as screwed up as they are, is of their own doing (and doing and doping and doing), then I certainly can go no further wasting my time and finances.

Sorry, folks, M-I-L came home yesterday and one of those people was there and got under my skin. Didn't mean to steal the thread to vent my angst. It's just that some people are better off...............; never mind.
