It's a shame that it's all on Douglas shoulders. When I was here I okayed the Fs uploads and if either of us was unavailable we could progress important uploads. There should be someone else with co-responsibilty for allowing uploads otherwise we lose the lead when authors like Tim give The SOH first chance.

December 27th, 2009, 14:08
Based on my recent experience with the Quickie uploads 5 days is about right.

Warrant
December 27th, 2009, 14:16
Nah!, Could not be right. My uploads are all subject to a delay of a couple of hours, especially in those days Roger is referring to. But recently my Viper AI package was also upped in hours.

Await a Cognac (or beer) or two, watch a nice flick and it will be up.

Patience........right?:engel016:

Yep, it would be great for at least one other person to be co-responsible for the uploads, especially on occasions like this. Since I haven't really been given any specific responsibility with my promotion, I wouldn't mind getting a "how to" course on the uploads area and give Douglas some extra breathing room.

Warrant

If it is a fact only one person can OK the uploads and that person is on a road trip, then we will see Piglet's masterpiece @ other site's first if he chose to upload there. That would be the first time as far as i can remember. Again, if that is the fact, perhaps that could be a point of improvement in SOH management in the future.
Otherwise, it still is a big freebie home to many, depending on donations. And even the SOH staff people are doing this for a hobby, voluntary and not for/as a job. :engel016:
Meaning, we all have to just wait where Tim's long awaited AN-32 will pop up first. :pop4::gameon:

Tig, you can download the freeware AN-12 or AN-26 for FS9 and use the sound files in either one. They should work fine for this model. The engine types are very similar soundwise.

A highly realistic Ivchenko AI-24 turboprop soundset for the Antonov An-24/An-26/An-30. This one really is "As Real As It Gets" thanks to some great An-24 cockpit videos by Mr. Vladimir Seletskiy. After kindly giving me his permission to extract sounds from his videos I was really motivated to create this soundset. My testbed was Samdim's great Antonov An-24RV package. All sounds are sampled at 22,5Khz to 44,1Khz 16-bit stereo, enjoy!!

awesome model!

may i ask a couple of questions?

1) when i load the plane it comes in over 2,000 lbs over weight. i notice the weight of the crew, then a huge number for cargo or something. was this done as a sort of ballast? how much of it could i elimintate without making the plane itself lighter or otherwise affecting the model in a negative way?
it seems to fly just fine while overweight.

2) i know folks have asked about different sounds, but i am just wondering where the sounds it has came from? my ear suggests it's a combo of 2 other planes.

sorry and not trying to be a stick in the mud but im having problems sucking fuel from the stbd tank, it sucks from the port tank ok and to a point where is dry and stbd is full, ive tried to x feed but im not sure its working and not seeing anything transfer

can some give me some direction as its a pig of a thing to fly with one empty and full tank

thanks

I think it has something to do with the saved default flight. Make sure it has both tanks selected then resave as the default flight. I think that shoud fix the issue of one tank being used.

LOVE it, Tim! Thanks, as always! But...

Joke #1:
I have to say you did a really crappy job on the interior cargo area.

Joke #2:
This plane is the sh*t!

I'm pretty sure Piglet has modeled a cargo item here that has never before been modeled in a simulator before!

(Confused? Ride in the back and read the newspaper. :)

Denna A is always crapping on me!

Just trim off payload or fuel to come in under max gross. My refs said it can carry full payload, or full fuel, but not all at the same time.
To simulate an empty plane, just remove the cargo payload.
Never had a fuel feed problem, so I will have to look into this. I do know that dumping fuel will drain the left main tank first. I had a crossfeed switch active, but it would kill the engines when turned on! Not very useful...

To get new internals views, just add a new entry in the plane's .cfg file, near the top under the camera definitions section. Just play with the numbers to get the eyepoint where you want it.
Well, anyways I glad you all like the big ol' Antonov!:ernae::ernae:

That would be a great one as well. There is a good one for FS2002, which was ported over to FS9, by Dimitry Samborsky i think. It would be great to see one in FSX as well.:applause:
Did you know there is a version that could be used as a CAS/ bomber version as well, with guns near the landing gear bay, rocket pods under the wings (pylon) and bomb racks internally in the tail under the cargo bay door! It was/is meant for the Russian ministry of interior/border troops.

Thats right warrant mate I think it had guns ahead of its main wheel bay buldges, rocket pods and bombs a trully mad idea but it must have worked as I think they used them in Afghanistan in the 80's, not sure how they used them though! I think the silver fairing is the gun!

I changed the alignment slightly, as the original was too low for the CS effects:
[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0=-10.00, -12.80, 9.4, cs130_smoke
smoke.1=-10.00, 12.80, 9.4, cs130_smoke

Also I edited the transparency of the smoke, as I think CS overdid it with theirs. The early C-130s do smoke a fair bit, but their engines shouldn't look like they're on fire!

Open up the cs130_smoke.fx file in notepad and change "Color Start=75, 75, 75, 10" to "Color Start=75, 75, 75, 5".

The An-32 is a very smoky beast though, so it's still a fairly thick trail.

How do you do this work all by yourself, with such good results and so fast?

Combination of lots of free time, keeping to default aircraft systems, and basically not always chasing the "tech dragon". I got to a certain level of computer stuff, programs, and model complexity, and basically stayed there.
Like in real life, one gets all the design and tooling squared away, then starts production, keeping major changes to a minimum.
Also many of my projects were started earlier, so it's mostly just picking up whereI left off.

An d I thought the original looked "kooky" :)

But I cannot get the darn thing to start! I try Ctrl+E,and all I get are some sounds that sound like an engine ticking over, but no prop movement :( Is there a switch I have to flick? I really want to take this sweet looking bird to the skies!

Load up an new flight, or the best way is to exit the simulator and restarting it. Followed with an default setted free flight with the stock Cessna, and see if your fuel master lever is cuttoff ?

Some repaint request, although these countries do not operate type 32 models, I would like to fly Tim's masterpiece in the colours of the Czech, Hungarian or Polish airforce.

Piglet, you are the Master Craftsman, no doubt at all! Another brilliant plane!
