Hello people,

I have a problem with one o my add-on planes.
I have this nice starfighter model but the afterburner effect is not so good. So I wanted to use other effects to get a nice afterburner.
But I simply can't get it to work.

Could anyone help me with this?

thanks for your help

Which F-104 is that Erik?

It is a nice G type with some Wingtip fueltanks.
I could send the effects and the plane to you I you want to.
Or could you tell me where I can upload my files for the plane.

So I could send them or just upload the files, the choice is yours.
Either way, I hope you can help me.

thanks

By the way I am just a rookie. this is the first time I try this so please not to much technical terms.

What we need is to know where you got the plane, with the original download filename if possible. We need to be able to see what you're seeing to be able to help. If it's the Rey Lopez version, though, just let us know that - most of us have that one already.

The plane was Cristiano Cappatti's version. the I want to use effects came with the repaint kit with plane from Marc Czygan or Bob Chicilo (don't know which of the two, they are both in the readme files). the origional plane was from Aphasim. I got the F-104G on simvation.com . I also tried Ray lopez's version but that one is not really special. I'll stick to my own version.

I'm a bit a bit puzzled here. It's the Alphasim 104 you got from Simviation?

sorry, missed a part in the line.
the kit for the effects is in alfasim's F8 crusader. The F-104G is from Cristiano Cappatti. I don't think alfasim has a F-104.

the I want to use effects came with the repaint kit with plane from Marc Czygan or Bob Chicilo (don't know which of the two, they are both in the readme files). the origional plane was from Aphasim.

this part was about the F8 part.
the effects were in this package.

I managed to get some effects more or less in position but the burner only appears as I activate the landinglights. What I would like is that the afterburner activates at full throttle. I know this is possible, so if someone chould give some advice it would help me a lot.

I think this is the info you wanted.

(btw the F8 was freeware. It was a older model from Alfasim)

What you need then is a gauge to control them properly. One that I know of is in Mike Stone's F-111 packages. (Deja Vu!) Download either the "C" or "F" variants from Garry Smith's place (http://www.gjsmith.net/Mike-Stone/Page_3.htm). Inside the panel folder, you'll find a cab file. Put that into either the panel folder of the plane you're working with or in your main gauges folder. Once that's in place, you'll of course need to add a line to your panel.cfg:

gaugenn=f111!afterburner, 0,0,1,1

Add that line to the end of the [Window00] section, changing the "nn" to the next number in line. It's an invisible gauge, so you won't see it in the cockpit.

You'll also need to make sure that your afterburner effects are being turned on correctly by editing a small part of the aircraft.cfg. The gauge youve just added doesn't see that it's turning on any particular effect, but a light switch, in this case, the logo lights. If your afterburners are coming on with the lights, then you've got them installed in the right place. You just need to make sure that the first number after the "light.x=" is 9.

The freeware package below will add nearly any effect to any plane based on power setting and G load. For the afterburner one would go to light section #12 and 13 and substitute the desired effect. The gauge will turn 12 and 13 on at full power setting.

//----------------RENO Effects Control------------------------------------
New FS2004 special effects for:

Original design by Roger L. Dial.

NEW EFFECTS:
1. Air-Show smoke using "I" key (choice of six colors).
2. Start-up smoke (default activation).
3. Exhaust-stack flames in four phases, with XML control:
-brief orange flashes at start-up
-soft blue flashes at idle rpm
-bigger and brighter flashes at cruise rpm's
-even more at max rpm
With some paint jobs the flames will reflect on the cowling at night...

4. Wingtip vortex, with XML control using "G" force (choice
of 2, 3, or 4 "G").
5. Runway tiremarks with optional "chirp" sound.
Includes "External-Touchdown-Sound"
effect concept, with many thanks to:
Adnane BOURJA
Adnanebourja [at] caramail.com
Casablanca, Morocco.

INSTALLATION:
1. "New_sounds" folder:
Put the "wav" files into the "Flight Simulator 9\sound" folder.
(You may already have the same files from my other effects, OK to
over-write, or not)
2. "New_XML_gauges" folder:
Put the entire FOLDER "RENO_FX" into the "Flight Simulator 9\gauges" folder as
a "sub-folder"....
(Won't work if the XML gauges are mixed in with all the others.)
3. "New_effects" folder:
Put all the new effect files into the "Flight Simulator 9\effects" folder...
4. The aircraft.cfg file is likely different for each user, so please make
your own edits:
Open a copy of the "aircraft.cfg" file and replace the [sections] below
with "Notepad" cut-and-paste tools:

Terry, you mention a freeware package, but you don't name it. Only the installation instructions. Could you please name the package?

Thank You

Sorry about that. Reno effects are not a stand alone file that I'm aware of. They are included with several aircraft downloads. I believe this one has everything needed. I just copied all the effect files into a separate folder for use on aircraft that need spicing up. From Flightsim.....

Fully compatable. You should be in good shape now.

It should work as long as you view the 2D panel at least once. If not, I don't know what else to tell you. I know that's the way it works on Mike's planes.
