I rarely walk out on a film (only twice so far), but i couldn't stand it any longer on 2012 and left.
I knew this film will be over-the-top hollywood stuff, but i didn't expect it to be this bad. Was it made for 1 yr olds?
There are some cool plane stuff, but none of it made any sense :)
Can't wait to watch Avatar tho....got my tickets to watch it in 3D on monday!

I guess it was supposed to be serious, but any clips I've seen are so outrageous and over the top, I think it turned out to be a comedy instead. :icon_lol:

I was about to tell you to save your coins, but I see you already know what a POS it is.

I saw the trailer.... yeah, def. over the top... but some, please note, SOME, of the CGI was amazing.... The way some of the cars etc. moved was much more realistic than past films. I haven't seen it yet, I will see it when it comes out on dvd probably. I haven't seen a film in the theater since "Flyboys"... and hell that was what, 5 years ago?

I call this type of movie a "roller coaster movie." The plot, for lack of a better word, is simply a bare outline for the CGI thrill ride. That being said, they can be fun, but to expect more is asking for disappointment.

Good candidate for the Youtube snippets...
In fact I'm a little surprised stuff like this makes it to the box office.
The world movie audience is instantly, and very well, informed.
You have only yourself to blame if you actually shell out money for something you won't like...:kilroy:
EDIT: Actually, movies like this can be fun in the home theater environment.
You just whirr through the bits between the interesting bits, making up any old story, and have 20 minutes of pure entertainment at the CGI! :d

so, it's crap? good, I'll download it as soon as some friendly soul wastes his money on the DVD and uploads it. :icon_lol:

Bad movies are sometimes good to watch, aka "Mystery Science Theater 3000". Some of those were actually painful though.

Would it be even worth the bandwidth? :kilroy:
(I'd be careful with comments indicating illegal activities around here, even though they might be halfway legal or in a "legal grey zone" in your country.)

I actually love to watch "bad" movies sometimes....the "it's so bad that it's good" thing. :) Such as Snakes on the Plane, Battle Field Earth, etc...
But this movie is just so insulting to the audience....it assumes that you have an IQ of 10 or something. I knew it was over the top and went to watch it for the CG effects....but because the film took a "serious side" to the story, it was so hard to watch. Some reasons:
- making up random science facts (don't take your kids...it'll ruin their education)
- after LA is completely destroyed by sinking into the sea, the main character's wife still thinks that her husband is making this whole "2012" thing up
- while burning rocks are falling all around him, the main character searches for a piece of paper in a small pile....looking through each one....instead of just grabbing the whole thing and run
- a "student pilot in single engine training" manages to start, take off, navigate 1000+ miles to another location, and land in a Twin engine aircraft. Later he also flies a huge Russian Antonov An-225!
- Only the United States can save the world...everyone on earth listens to its president :)
- *SPOILER*: to save the human race, devices are built to hold them but can only fit 400,000 people. But instead of filling it with scientists, bright young minds, strong leaders, etc....you have to buy your way in. Thus, rich spoiled kids, russian mobsters, gold-digger wives, etc. will be the future of earth....great! (and the fact that after Earth is destroyed, money will be worthless....so having rich people onboard serves what purpose?)
the list goes on and on...i think i made it through about 50% of it...haha

But he's got thousands of hours in FS!
P.S. What was the other film you walked on?

2012 is one of the many many movies that I have no desire to see. None at all.
The last time I went to see a movie at a theater....7 years ago I think. Incredible Hulk. A buddy and I called off sick from work...we worked at a metal plant together on 2nd shift and I worked "for" him helping to get his home remodeling business going. After several months of 16 to 18 hour days, we decided we would blow off work and have a day of fun. Went to see the movie at the local Dollar Theater....and since we went during the day, we got in to see the movie for 50 cents. I walked out about 1/3 of the way into the movie...it was horrible. Not even worth the 2 quarters I paid to see it. I spent the rest of the movie chatting with the gals at the snack stand.
