startup error

Hey guys, im new here so sorry if i am posting this in the wrong place.

I recently bought CFS3 and it installs fine, etc, but when I launch the game and after the initial loadup screen, it goes to a black screen and then i get an error message. The one which asks if you would like to send an error report..

I have updated my direct x and my video card drivers and it still wont work. My video card is a Geforce 4 Ti and I have 512mg RAM and 2.8Ghz..

Any suggestions?

Hi Kingwood,

I had a similar problem a while back ... not sure if this will help with yours, but I found that running the CFS Configuration program (separate to the game itself) and using this to specifically set the display resolution to the same as I had for my "normal" PC settings fixed the problem.

Run CFS Config, select "File", "Change Display Options", then manually select the resolution to your monitor's settings (mine is 1024 x 768 x 16 - and more particularly it was setting it to 16-bit colour rather than 32-bit that seemed to do the trick for me). Once this is done, don't adjust the display settings from within the game itself as it doesn't always appear to work all that reliably.

Hope that helps - if not then perhaps one of the other "experts" here might have some other suggestions.
