...to put your patience to the test.
what we need here are just the basics.
first, connecting to the Multi-Player session.
second, to the TeamSpeak Server
is there a place where the IPs are posted?
they are, most likely, right under my nose,
but I don't see them.

there is no rush,
I have to run a few erronds,
but I will be back in a few hours.

thanks in advance
for putting up with the noob :blind:

just got home from errands.
on the way back, wife got a text msg,

oh, I forgot, we have company coming over today.
what?
don't you remember? I told you.
no.
what's wrong?
I had plans for the day.
oh. they'll be here in a few hours.
just enough time to clean the house and get ready.
great.

crap!!! I hate being a flake.
I guess I could hunker down in the basement and pretend they aren't there.
I would be in doo for a month!

was able to connect to both servers,
but saw no current activity.
is Dave's still for backup?
are we using a specific port?

I will try to get in as soon as I can.

I told you this would be a test of patience.
but maybe it will help others get connected.

are you coming over, too?
what time?
want to see my set up?
it's a mess, but it's mine.
right now, Plan-G has me crawling.
the pent 4 is screaming in agony.
thought about picking up the baton
for a short hop
but thought it might be a good idea
to know where I was going to go.

apparently, we are going to meet our guests
at the Point Defiance Zoo for Zoo Lights.
it's suppose to be a big Christmas light deal.
will be back late tonight.

so, how was it you saw Paul 1.6 miles out of UELL?
I've got to get this Multi-Player connection together.

I am curious to see the route taken.
the Aleutians or Bering Straight.
got some long legs coming up, either way.
safe flights to all

Smilo, not sure which sim you're flying, but if it's FS9, then joining multi-player is easy:

1. Start the sim, go to the airport, taking care to not be on the runway, just in case somebody is on short final...

2. Hit the ALT key to activate the menu bar

3. Select Flights -> Multiplayer -> Connect...

4. In the Player name box, type your name, as you want it to appear to others.

5. In the IP address, type mape.gotdns.org

6. When the server "appears" in the window below the IP address box (takes a few seconds), click the join button.

You will now be online. Hit the ENTER key to bring up the chat box, and/or fire up Team-speak...

Charbox warning: You really should map all single-key commands (gear, slew etc.) to some key combination, so that if your're typing in the chat box and you think it has the keyboard focus, but in fact it doesn't, and the sim does, you could accidently slew and do other bad things while in flight.

thanks Paul, that's exactly what I wanted to know.
I can't wait to try it.

I've got to say, I am extremely frustrated.
I so much want to jump in and pick up the baton,
fly wing, or, at the least, watch from the ground

our guests kept me up until midnight.
I usually hit the sack by 9.

I can go to the practice thread for updates,
but can only look for a few minutes,
so I stay logged in.

now I am waiting for everyone to get up shortly.
I know that as soon as I join,
folks around here will start to stir.

my body clock is still running normally,
I was up at 05:00, but with a splitting head ache.:crybaby:

I hope to be able to help out in a few hours,
we shall see.

I have spent hours attempting to do some flight planning
but my machine can't seem to handle Plan-G
crawling would be an understatement.
I downloaded and installed SFP
in hopes that it would work
no joy
when I try to build the data base,
my machine locks up
WTF!!!

I can not afford to upgrade
so I am basically dead in the water.

contrary to popular belief,
I do NOT enjoy complaining.

I just want to learn how
to make a good flight plan
program my GPS
and make it safely to the next waypoint

Here is another one to try.

Destination Finder for FS9

It is not like all the other planners it has no visible map.

You simply enter your start ICAO the distance you want to fly and a heading. The utility spits out a list of airports in that general direction.

You can also filter results by runway surface (hard, soft, both or water), length, and ILS.

You then can use the built in flight planner to build your leg or just add the destination to the GPS.

Edit*** testing more works but not quite how I thought it did ***

In this program, you enter the ICAO code of your start airport, the distance you wish to fly, and the heading on which you wish to fly. The program will search through all the stock airports in FS9, and will compile a list of airports nearest to your desired destination. For extra flexibility, you can also leave the heading and/or the distance unspecified. Alternatively, the program can now read your aircrafts position in all versions of FS, and use that as the starting point of the search. You can optionally specify a maximum and/or minimum length for the runway, whether the runway must have an ILS, a maximum elevation for the destination airport, the runway surface (hard or soft or water) and whether the airport should be civil or military or either. The program can be useful for planning your own flight or for drawing up AI flightplans. It is a standalone program, and uses FS9 airport and runway data, but, with that limitation in mind, it can equally be used with other versions of FS. Version 1.1 has a much improved formula for calculating longitude and latitude over longer distances, and is now very accurate over all distances. Version 1.1 also incorporates a number of new features suggested by user feedback. The upgrade is recommended for all users. Needs the .NET Framework 2.0.

File Description:
There was an error in one of the data files used by this program which meant that the program would crash if you started your search at an airport which was below sea level (of which there are 32 in FS9). This new file will overwrite the old file and will solve the problem. If you never start from these airports, then there is no need for you to download this file. The affected airports are: 59CL, 61CL, KBWC, KCLR, KIPL, KNJK, KSAS, KTRM, L06, EHAM, EHLE, EHNP, EHRD, EKAE, EKMN, EKNS, ESA, GPA, HE0B, HEAX, LGEP, LLEY, LLMZ, OIGG, OINJ, OINN, OINR, TM0B, UATG, UB0C, UB0E and URWA.

The results show will be shorter than the distance input.

The current leg to CBOC is the first on the list and it is 8nm by its database shorter than 350nm. Which should be close.

All other entries that it finds will be closer to the starting point AK71 in this case.
