Finally tried going from 175.19 to 178.24.

FSX works in normal mode.

Fs9 stopped working ,aborted while attempting to load scenery (Worked in 175.19)

CFS3 started working (never worked in any previous nvidia driver set)

Analglypth 3D:

FSX Planes that were ok in 175.19 now show some black and transparent parts in 178.24

The 3D mode works well for both driver sets in the vc.

External views give mixed results depending on the view selected. Some view options on some planes appear rather close to the
plane while others are quite distant.

The views close to the plane show the plane parts in 3d.

The views distant to the plane show 3d effect between plane and distant scenery but not between plane parts.

Seems I am another one losing faith in nvidia drivers. Is there a way to get feedback to nvidia in hopes that they will support all the MS flightsims better?

Did you use a driver cleaner in safe mode to finish removing the left overs>>>>> http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-(Setup)-download-1655.html

I've had no issues with 178.24 drivers and FSX. I've yet to test the latest 180.43 drivers.

I had issues with 178.24 also. It screwed up my desktop and it corrupted XP themes. :banghead: There was no advantage in FPS or textures, so I dumped it. Try 178.13. I'm running that now with no issues at all...

I have no issues with the 178's on my 8800 GT, but did install the beta 180 driver this past weekend. After a day I went back to the 178's. The 180's just were not stable in many ways. It was the first set of nVidia drivers I did not retain, beta or not.

I'm running 178.13 right now. . .no problems in FSX or FS9. I don't keep up with every release so I wasn't aware that a more recent 178 driver was available. Based on the feedback, I'll keep what I have for right now.

I'll give the 180.43's a try later on....Haven't switched my PC on in weeks as i'm too busy playing COD4 and Far Cry 2 on my notebook!!:d Still haven't refitted the new 9800GX2's either (following an RMA) so i'm running a single Evga 8800 Ultra "backup" card.:redf::kilroy:

I redownloaded 178.24, made sure driver sweeper was used properly as well as a registry cleaner. Now FSX, FS9 and CFS3 work ok.

The 3d stereo issues are still there, however.

I suppose I should be eating some humble pie. Thinking back when I did a driver sweep on the first install and clicked the sweep button, I don't remember getting a confirmation box. I did get that confirmation box the second time. Possibly my clicking skills need honing.:costumes:

Thanks for your comments. They influenced me to try again.

....now try 180.43! :costumes:

It really is important to run a driver cleaner when installing new drivers.

OK, so now I have tried nvidia drivers 180.24 and am generally pleased with the results.

fsx, fs9 and csf3 work. Following are some details:

FSX works normally and with stereo 3d and trackir.
FS9 works normally and with stereo 3d and trackir. Had some difficulty with the screens initially, but was able to get all above modes to function. This beta produces a message in the lower right corner of the screen indicating nvidia's take on details. I could not get rid of the message while in 3d stereo mode as per nvidia's keystroke sequence of ctrl-alt-insert.

csf3 works normally and with 3d stereo and trackir. nvidia's message could be removed with the ctrl-alt-insert sequence.

stereo 3d.

In fsx, 3d external views of the plane act differently. Pressing the s key will bring up an external view and a flyby view that do not show 3d between plane parts but show 3d between the plane and the background. If one switches to a camera view, 3d stereo is visible between plane parts.

This is probably the way Microsoft developed the program.

So, thanks again for the encouragement to try the latest drivers.

I am wondering if some of the symptoms of these driver problems are panels that don't work or half work. I can't even get the original panel for the Accel pack FA-18 to work. It use to but since I had to reinstall XP and all drivers, I just cannot get it to work. Also, how do I tell if my system is 32 bit or 64 bit?

I download all new nVidia drivers, but do not install them lest I hear of definite advantages in doing so. I am currently on 178.13 and have had zero problems, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it is my code.

I need to try each new flavour of driver as I fly in Dx10 and there is a huge difference between how Dx10 looked on 169.25 (last January) and the 180 series so far. I had dismissed Dx10 when my pc was new as it looked horrible but then when I tried it back in August I didn't go back to Dx9 apart from the need to test some addons in both modes.

Gera,

This new driver allows two PCI Express cards to be run in SLI mode and use a monitor with each card. I think this is the first time this has been able to be done.

Would appreciate the .bgl. Was going to buy UTX Canada but didn't think I wanted to spend $40 right now.

Thanks,

Tom

180.48 works similarly as I reported above for the 180.24 beta. One difference, if I remember correctly, is that 180.24 gave a message about needing analglyth glasses to view 3d, but 180.48 does not.
