Guys, does anyone have any decent images of a Swordfish cockpit? I'm trying to finish off the mesh Mathias from Classic Hangars sent me, currently the references I have are the 'From the Cockpit' book on the 'Fish which has two shots, the Pilot's Notes for the RN Historic Flight aircraft in PDF and a couple of shots I found on the interwebs and one I took of the instrument panel in the FAA Museum (which has an altimeter that only reads up to 4000'!). So far I've decided no two Stringbags had the same instrument panel, and everything else seems to have been thrown in randomly!!
I'm really after shots of the two side panels/shelves where the throttle etc. live so I can figure out where the magneto switches etc. go but everything is good!
If you follow the link in my signature and get to the Flying Stations forums there are some WIP shots somewhere....

KD,

Thanks for those, one was new to me and rather useful.
What I'm trying to find out now is what the homing equipment fitted to the Stringbag was. I know it had a receiver for the Type 72 homing beacon as fitted to various RN carriers (big cylindrical thing on the mainmast of the Victorious if you've downloaded that) and which was also used on various other RN aircraft including the Seafire and Fulmar.
What I haven't been able to do is figure out if there was a gauge and if there was what it looked like! If there wasn't a gauge I'm guessing it may have just been an audio signal but again detail on the net at least is a bit vague. The only facts I do know were that it was VHF and the Vic's failed while her strike group were on the way back from the Bismarck!
Anyone got any ideas?

If all else fails, the flight manuals are available here... http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/Swordfish.html

KD,

'Thanks' for that, I've now broken and ordered the CD! On the plus side it comes with the Albacore and Barracuda so I'll probably add them to the list of planes I want to do but don't have the time for!
