I've posted info in both the FS9 & FSX forums,
FSX-- http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=26589
FS9-- http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=26590

but here are a couple of notes for the racing side..

yes, you CAN turn off the moving map & aircraft icon functions - click the Plan-G button (top left corner - circle with a plane), select options and set what you need. However there are some flightplan data displays which may not be 'hide-able" so we'll have to look at that for future events that limit nav data & equipment.

You can show any of the alternative maps (Terrain, Satellite, hybrid, roads). I didn't see much impact to performance ( Q9300, 6Gb ram) but I imagine the more intense mapping may bog down some machines.

I DID get an FS9 out-of-memory error ( first time ever on this machine) but it may have been due to multi programs running and lots of switching about with a complex plane w/32 bit textures.

Esp. if you have a good mesh, the terrain map will get you through most difficult routes as long as you don't get distracted by Plan-G's data displays.

Looks pretty impressive so far. Thanks for the Heads-Up, Rob.
