Looking at the photos, someone above intervened. :engel016:

I had a road grader driver do a similar thing. Was working on the road at an uncontrolled crossing, and backed up onto the tracks before setting the blade down. Good thing the grader was articulated. The Northbound BNSF coal train out of Wyoming, at about 60mph, snapped the grader right in half at the joint. Despite having the blade down it still flipped the cab over, but he had his belt on. :isadizzy:

Boy, I hope this farmer had good insurance, 'cause the bill from the RR company for repairs to the locomotive won't be cheap. They usually come looking for you, if you survive.:173go1:

my very first day in the sheetmetal trade there was a lady who tried to beat the train across the tracks next to the shop. i watched it cut her brand spankin new dodge ram pickup in half. carried the bed about a mile down the tracks. she didn't even go to the hospital.

Time to call John Deere and tell them that their input shaft didn't stand up to the test ... oh and their cast housing didn't last either.

Fortunately just a one-timer, but a very bad one.

Nonetheless, I trust the Deutsche Bahn. Still safer than going somewhere by car.

Allow me to rephrase. Train vs. motor vehicle; train always wins. Yes, that derailment and bridge collapse was a dark day in railroading.
