Here's some new pics of the Skycrane in it's new textures. Though the old ones were ok, we decided to make it better...

Hope you like them.

It's not been coded yet... but, given that it's way less than the Huey is in terms of both polys and of textures, it should be pretty darned good but, who can tell with all the effects for the water going on... We'll see...

Thanks for the compliments. Our team always likes to hear those...

Some of the finest modelling and texturing I've seen to date! I wouldn't normally be too interested in the Skycrane but with that kind of quality it'll be hard to resist.

That's KC's signature link to Milviz.

The Huey he referenced to is the joint project Milviz did with the Nemeth brothers:
http://nemethdesigns.com/uh1.html

The Skycrane is a joint project with Nemeth Designs as well.

crazykolin,

I have a question, though I know the answer is prolly "NO".

Will that CC pod on the CH-54 version through the "Hoist" command mode in kinda reverse animation be allowed to be placed on the ground and have the CH-54 fly off and leave the CC pod on the ground, even if the CH-54 has to go straight up a couple thousand feet with an invisible teather before it disappears from view?

Saw one of these babies at my local airport KBHM, many, many years ago at an open house event (attached to the 106 th. Aviation Battallion, I think) do a "tactical climb"... don't know the real name for that manuever... with a CC pod attached, straight up to approx. 5,000 ft. Man that was impressive ! :applause:

What sort of sling loads will come with this lady?
Perhaps a busted Chinook, Huey, a couple artillery pieces ?:ernae:

krazycolin
November 16th, 2009, 20:39
The Nemeth's will have to deal with all that stuff but, I've been told that they intend to be able to drop and pick stuff up as well as doing water bombing....

I can't make any promises that we will actually do sling loads. I think we'll leave that for mission designers... Any takers?

Well since to one of the MILVIS guys did see my question I will repost it:

How's this rendition of the Skycrane in the system department?

Thanks

krazycolin
November 17th, 2009, 18:14
There's no clear answer to that question Anneke. There are two points here: the first is that we don't do the code for any of our models. The second is that we JUST (an hour ago) sent the model off to the Nemeth's an hour ago so coding will only start later this week. So even they don't know yet.

I have asked for as much mission capability/systems as possible. It needs to be said upfront that this add-on will be only FSX Acceleration capable. (SP2)... so... sorry if that's not working for ya but.... we want to be able to drop water, pick up stuff, drop pods etc etc...

That's the best answer I can give you at this time. (or, it will be what it is...)

PS: it's not milviS, it's milviZ... (just saying!)

There is indeed a very high powered winch on the Skycrane for hauling stuff. Here's (http://data3.primeportal.net/hangar/bill_spidle3/ch-54a_68-18437/images/ch-54a_68-18437_05_of_12.jpg) a good pic showing that off...

The only thing we don't have is the logging "implement" as we couldn't find close ups of it.

Cool vid Dain, makes me wonder is you could usea mission trigger to have a partial tower and then when you connect and drop the load to it, have it be replaced by a full tower? I wonder if the nemeths have the knowledge to implement the FSX shared cockpit deal, would be cool for the jump seat.

Yes you can, its pretty easy to do.

you would actually, practically speaking, NEED to have two people.. otherwise, if you got into any trouble at all... (like going up and down for example) you would have to change places... not the best solution when flying a BIG MOMMA and carrying an even BIGGER payload... if ya know what I mean. I am not sure if the Nemeth's can do that. But you could always ask them... :mixedsmi:

How come I am the last one to find out. :icon_lol: Excellent news. By the way for the person who asked about the UH-1 we just did the model, the UH-1 Huey can be purchase from either Sim Market, or go the the Nemeth's website (www.nemethdesigns.com (http://www.nemethdesigns.com)).

EDIT: Not a big fan of doing edits, but I missed the question from genbrier about the final release. We do not have a release date at this very moment (I am guessing that is what you asking). Or what you mean about the final Erickson? Erickson corp. bought the rights to the sky crane from Sikorsky, and to my knowledge that is the only difference in them. They have been upgraded over the years with more modern instruments, GPS, and glass displays but we do not intend on doing those. This is meant to be the more classic type you would of seen originally in military service.

I am unsure what happened to the photos in KC's original post.. I myself saw this when I was at work last night, and I thought I missed out on something cause I didn't read the date on the original post. :icon_lol: So I spent my last hour at work trying to concentrate on work, but wondering how in the world I missed such a big update. Cause normally I can't view screens from work. I think they just got cleaned out when the server went down the last time.. I host all the screenshots I put up on photobucket so that is a reason why posts I put up retain the screens. Is why once I noticed the error of my ways I put up the links to our site.. didn't want to clog up this one much more. That is the whole reason, and I apologize for the confusion. Cause I am looking very forward to this product coming out myself (we aren't the ones coding it). So I think my anticipation is up there with the rest of you. As soon as we get word back from the coders about status/going into beta we hope we will be able to do a fairly big update. We were just the model supplier on this one so once it leaves our hands it is gone unless they want the model revised or updated in some way, but the pics in my post are the ones that were originally being referenced. We always upload the screens on our site in the forums, and here. More people come through here so if you ever see a post here without screens (if they get deleted for cleaning up the server or something) my posts will always be on the forums at www.milviz.com (http://www.milviz.com). So if you ever have a question on one of our projects they are all in the work in progress section. We monitor both sites so the response time is usually minimal.

We don't have any photo's of the logging attachment is what KC was saying. So we were unable to do it up to our standards so the logging attachment will not be included. If anyone does have access to these then it may be considered, but keep in mind they would have to be some pretty detailed photographs from various angles. As far as the pictures please see the links in my post above, and I will put them again here SirrBenn.

It has not entered beta yet. I had an Alpha pass through my hands. Was supposed to get a Beta version a few days ago but I think some hiccups were encountered and those are being sorted before officially going into Beta. Being a Sikorsky mechanic I am looking forward to this one. Have a lot going on with the 310 too so will have to split my time. Will get shots up as soon as I have it, and am able to fly it around for a bit and make sure it is ready for prime time.

The beast is IN BETA and ON FINAL APPROACH! Nemeth Designs and Milviz' beta teams are hard at work finding nasties and we're fixing them all!

Sadly, we're not going to be able to have missions. At least, not yet. We hope to be able to supply them (free of course) after release to all who purchased it...

Otherwise, we're CLOSE! VERY CLOSE! (can you tell that I LOVE CAPS!!!!)

Well just wanted to give a quick report of things since I have actually managed to fly the beta. While I will not give specifics, or screens just yet. I will say that this is one of the most amazing helicopter models I have ever seen in flight in FSX. As far as flight goes it is big and clunky just as one would expect. I am accustomed to flying jets, and WWII birds so being limited to 100 knots and below makes me feel like I am crawling along. I do not foresee there being a large learning curve though for rotor heads like myself.
