Hey All,

So much for hot shot open wheel drivers thinkin they can outdrive Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jeff Gordon when they have no brakes or beat a Dodge with Kasey Kahne in it or even go by old has been drivers like Jeff Burton or Mark Martin! All five of these drivers passed Tony Stewart to make the chase for the Nextel Cup last night.

That this can happen is a lot of what I love about NASCAR - it is a team game. Your chassis shop can lose the race, your engine shop can lose the race, your crew chief can lose the race, your pit crew can lose the race and finally your driver can lose the race. Your only as good as your weakest link. Who lost for the Joe Gibbs Tony Stewart team last night? I don't know but he's out despite being I admit it one of the best drivers around but only in a good car. I'd a bet dollars to donuts that Dale Sr woulda made the chase last night if he had been driving the 20. As great as Dale Sr was he was at his best in a car that wasn't at it's best. Tony is no Earnhardt. However maybe Tony wrecking his primary car on Friday contributed to his demise.

And now for the race to the cup!

Make the most of it Ed.
Having looked at the Toyota Camry 'NASCAR' and the new regs about 'wings' the whole complexion of the roundy-roundy circus will change.
Maybe for the better, but I remain quietly cynical ..... :kilroy:
And FWIW, neither Tony Stewart or Robbie Gordon ever rated in open wheelers.

Hey All,

Wombat as you may have guessed I'm no fan of the 20. That said I've no doubt he will be back. Whether I like it or not he is good enough for at least one more Cup championship.

I still can't get my head around the quaint way NASCAR fans use the term '20 Car' or whatever number ...... I've always (and all my fellow Wombats!) used the name of the driver or the team .... :kilroy:
