Thanks for the update, I was beginning to wonder if he was another fine aircraft creator lost to the CFS2 cause. Great to see him back and with such a gorgeously chunky beast!

I love the Boomerang, I got a Czech 1/48 scale plastic kit round here somewhere. There is a resin kit out there somewhere in 1/32 or 1/24, over 100 bucks.

This site has some excellent planes for Jap fetishists as I. He has the Jake, Muto's GEORGE and Akamatsu's RAIDEN, both mentioned by Sakai in his book.

Banzai!

Wahoo! That news made my day!

I project a release date of March to April 2010.

PS. Take your time (but not too much time :wiggle: ) Akemi and make it shine like all the rest of your works!

I'm really glad to see someone doing a Boomerang. I have a real soft spot for this super little aircraft. Sadly it never shot down any enemy aircraft, but in the hands of 4 and 5 Squadrons it performed sterling service in the ground recon role over both New Guinea and Bougainville.

I hope Akemi changes the Squadron codes from MH (83 Squadron) to either QE (4 Sq) or BF (5 Sq). 83 Squadron only used the Boomerang from April to September '43 being based on Horn Island and flying patrols over the Meruke area in New Guinea. It saw almost no action in that period.

I'm pretty sure I have a Boomerang tucked away - not sure who did it originally - I will have a look through my files and see if I can dig it out.

Found them - freeware by Techpower, so will upload for your enjoyment - there are a couple of versions. I was fortunate enough to see a Boomerang fly at the Jamestown airshow here in Australia just recently - it is a beautiful aircraft with a lovely engine note :icon_lol:

..............the boomer could be flown so slowly and stabily that it could (and was) used to eliminate pesky jap snipers
.......... directed by radio slowly over the treetops
and suddenly 2x20 mm HISPANO cannon and four 303 (7.7 mm) machine guns would cut off the tops of the trees

our main "active" aussi flight museum"TEMORA"
(celtic name meaning "an eminence commanding a wide view")
has a beautifully restored version
of a CA-13(Boomerang Mark II):medals:
(ive sat in the cockpit which was unusually roomy

(im gonna move to TEMORA in my latter days just to hear the roar of MERLINS from the 2 flying SPITS that live there-- mk8 mk16):ernae:

Akemi has done a wonderful job with the aircraft. It's a real beauty.

As it doesn't have a history of the aircraft in the Read-Me I thought I would provide a short one for those interested.

The Boomerang modelled by Akemi is a CAC-13, of which 95 were built and delivered to the RAAF between August 1943 and May 1944. BF-S (A46-126) the specific model of the zip, was delivered to 1 Aircraft Depot, RAAF in August 1943. It was allocated to 5 Squadron in November 1943, which was then based at Mareeba in Queensland until November 1944 (when the Squadron moved to Bougainville in the Solomons).

The aircraft was allocated to Flt.Lt. Arthur W. Clare, who named it 'Sinbad II'. The motif (not modelled in the zip) was positioned on the port side, just behind the cowling. Sinbad had red and white striped pants, blue shirt, yellow head band, black beard and boots.

The aircraft came to grief however on 14 July 1944 when it blew a tyre on takeoff from Mareeba, swinging the aircraft to the left snapping off both oleos and crashing onto its belly. At the time it was being flown by Flying Officer Cecil Warbrooke, who was uninjured.

The aircraft was converted to components in October 1944. Below are some photo's.

NB: The above information is drawn from "ADF Serials" at http://www.adf-serials.com/ and "Wirraway, Boomerang and CA-15 In Australian Service" by Stewart Wilson.

Hi,
I have followed Jadg's link and gone all over Akemi's site. All 3 hangers and the works in progress page and I can't find his new Boomerang anywhere.

What obvious thing have I missed this time?

thanks

Is there a Pratt & Whitney R-1830 sound pack around? I had a squiz in the 'Sounds' section, but could only see some Wright Cyclone packs. And the P&R is distinctly different, especially in startup mode.

Pips,

Number 26 above will get you the sound packs.

Gavin,

Sounds like you might need to clear out your cookies so that you get a fesh page at Akemi's site.

Jagd, it's the newbie again. The link in #26 takes me to Wikipedia, der Volksencyclopedia That Charley Manson Can Update, where is the link on the page for the sounds?

Thanks

Or here, for Obio's new DC 3/C-47 sound pack. Again, same engine:

So thank Jagd for the direct link to Lawdog's d/load. :)

My copy of Akemi's Boomer don;t have a panel. I noticed his two DINAH's don't either.

My computer possesses several anomalies. For one thing, the fonts on PSP 7.2 on my Win 98 machine has all of them, they will not load onto this Toughbook running XP SP2 at gunpoint. Is it my equipment? When I fly this Boomer, I'm out in the open air.

I've been also flying Piloto Azul's Boomer. I went up against 4 Reppu in QC and downed 2, damaged a third, before I had to bail out. I noticed it turns funny. Was there a bug in it, if so, where can I find a patch.

Thanks guys, and thanks Akemi. Banzai!

Odd. I checked the Bomerang files and they all appear to be in order to me. It must be an issue with your computer.
