I know I came across this beauty while looking for another airplane, but darned if I can remember where I actually downloaded it from. A real beauty with counter rotating props, excellent VC and exterior and great sounds.
The Westland Wyvern S.4:

Kaz Ito made it and it is available from flightsim.com wyverns4.zip (http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=80360).

It wasn't the most successful design and had a short career with the Royal Navy but did see active service during the Suez war.

The prototype had a 24 cylinder Rolls Royce Eagle 'H' block piston engine developing around 2,700 hp, driving an eight bladed 13' contra rotating propeller. Later it was powered by a Rolls Royce Clyde turboprop developing over 4,000 ehp then an Armstrong Siddely Python of 4,100 ehp.

Two of Westlands test pilots were killed in the testing of this machine, Harald Penrose, Westlands chief test pilot took over and saw it into service.

In squadron service and in testing there were 68 accidents, 39 were lost and there were 13 fatalities, including two RAF pilots and one USN pilot. Not an impressive record.

This is one of those instances where the flight sim model is far better than the real thing.

Oops, sorry, just realised I was reading an FSX thread not FS2004 :kilroy: Still, the potted history of the real thing is still correct.

Bingo kd, that's the one. He did a great job on this. Even though it was apparently a failure in real life, we can always make it a winner in FSX, lol. Thanks for locating the homepage for it. Maybe some other folks will enjoy it as well.:ernae:

Yep, exactly. After a long run of tweaking I got it to a point where it's workable in FSX.
