View Full Version : CT-133 Flight dynamics question

I recently aquired the CFB pacage containing the CT-133. I am having difficulty flying this plane as I can't seem to get it to trim properly. It always wants to pitch up, and when you retract the landing gear it practically nose dives. I've done the usual calibrating of the joystick, everything is bang on there, and I've reduced the sensitivities, and back. Everyother plane in my virtual collection flies without this problem so I think it might be the flight dynamics of this model. Landing is pretty difficult. Would any of you dynamics gurus please take this jet for a flight and post what you think? I really like this plane, and I'd really appreciate someone taking a look at her for me.
Thanks alot.
Doug

Are you using FSUIPC?

The latest unregistered version. How is that a factor? Please explain.
Thanks.

This thread does an excellent job of explaining how FSUIPC affects the calibration of your controls:

The Canadair CT-133 I found over at Simviation was a FS2000 model. The one I found here was from Tim Conrad.
What is the source and vintage of the one you are using? Perhaps I can peek at it time permitting.

Oh man you've got to see these beauties then. Panther posted this link about 4 pages ago in the 2004 discussion forum, and a great find it is.

Ps- the FSUIPC suggestion won't work for me because I have the unregistered version, but my Saitek joystick came with it's own calibration software that's pretty reliable.

So it's Tim's plane you have? Will have a peek when I get home tomorrow.
I have flown his T33 before with no problems that I remember.
Cheers: Tom...

Yes I found out they were Piglet's so I imagine the FDs are spot on. Still I'd like an opinion. Thanks for writing.

Looking now before my laptop batt crashes.
CG etc look good. Note that any high speed aircraft is very pitch sensitive. Try setting slider for pitch trim button to one increment per push (all the way left). Trimming takes a bit of time to take effect so go slowly. Try importing Jerry's test panel to read what your trim settings actually are. There are some trim Gauges you can steal from other planes and use as a popup as well.

Thanks Tom, the test panel you mention, I haven't heard of it could you provide a link for me and I'll give it a try. And how do you go about importing a trim gauge from an existing plane? I appreciate your time. Thanks for the advice.

My test gauges are here:

The package you'll want to download is this one:

As to a trim gauge:
If you can find a plane in your stable that has one as a popup, (1) just go to the panel.cfg and copy the "Window Title" at the top concerning it into your new planes panel.cfg., paste and renumber to your sequence; (2) find the section (eg. window 7) that concerns the trim gauge and copy it and paste and renumber in sequence as a 'window'. Should then be available as a popup.

I don't know if you all noticed or not, but there is a trim gauge in my test panel package. It's got a digital readout of the elevator, aileron, and rudder trim settings, and it shows exactly how much the trim changes with every button click.
