Hello everyone,

it looks as if all artwork (3d-modelling and painting) is done on the late variants.
Systems and coding is in up to the level of the early variants and we'll now concentrate fully on additional system programming and flight-modelling.
More on that soon.
All in all we should be in for a release well before christmas.
Below is a screenshot of each sub-variant and paint scheme included to the package.
If you have questions or suggestions just fire away.
Other than that enjoy!

......and here's a visual overview of the most important cockpit variations.
There are more, but these are more subtle modifications reflecting the different weapons loadouts of the various "R" versions and the like.
Note the right consoles of the A-5 to A-7 sub variants are virtually identical.
The A-7 uses newer versions of gunsight, artificial horizon, airspeed indicator and rpm indicator and has the left console simplified over the previous versions.
The A-8 has stuff changed and moved around allover the place, particularly due to the new FuG16 ZY radio, the added variometer and the additional 115 liters fuel tank, particularly due to simplification in production processes.
Allover there are three different artifical horizons in use.

Every time you post an update my jaw hits the floor a little harder. As a 190 lover you couldn't ask for more. All the A variants and they have top notch modelling and vcs that you might as well actually be sitting in. Also I can't speak for this package but if it's anything like the early variants, the performance in terms of smoothness in frames is some of the best.

Guess there should be some nice schemes amongst the other 20.000+ Fw190produced. :bump: Hermann Graf's "circus" A-5 comes to mind and many more A-8 and A-8/R2 machines.
We didn't do any plane from the african/mediterranean theatre for instance. Mind you, all aircraft that served in Tunisia being described in the literature as "F2" are actually A-5's.

I just hope ther is someway that can made for the swastika symbol to be added by the model owner after purchase, maybe a texture patch as freeware?

Although I detest right wing facist politics in any shape or form, to me, those wonderful models look 'un-finished'!!! Stopping the symbol used in an historical context will not undo all the wrongs caried out by the Naxi party.

Many of the Luftawaffe FW-190 pilots who fought bravely and courageously were not party members and I think it is wrong to try and sweep everything under the carpet an a fit of 'political correctness'.

As long as the symbol is not used as a badge or rallying point (i.e. on a personal PC used for Flight Simming), I cannot see the problem.

Calypsos, as a German citizen I'm bound to German law which strictly prohibites the display of the swastica except in an educational or artistical context, and that is for good reasons may I add.
Flight simulation games are not considered as art by German courts, so....
However, those who have purchased the early variants know that it's very easy and straight forward to add historically correct tail markings the day after release. :monkies:
Talking about tail markings, this release uses a decal sheet which allows the painting of nose/fuselage/tail art on a separate sheet in higher resolution than the "surrounding" fuselage surfaces.

Thanks Mathias, I was aware you could not ship your products with them, although with that amount of detail, they come under 'historical' classification in my book!

As you say, it is not too difficult to sort out. The last thing we need is a repeat of the political scene after the last big economic crisis, although the retched far right in the UK are 'on the march' and they have been using the Spitfire as a symbol!!!!

Do not worry about the tail svastika. The "update" pack with correct shaped item for each plane is already made and will be available (of course in other locations) immediatly after the release.

Dok, I share your opinion. Compared with these versions the early variants look almost too smooth. This is especially noticable inside the VC. The gauges in the early version were nicely mounted inside an instrument panel, while these version have the instruments bolted more or less on a panel.

From the outside I prefer the bulkier looks from the later versions as well.

That's what I like in these packages. You can really experience the development.

Cheers,
Huub

To me both are beautiful in their own ways!:mixedsmi: I like the "history" behind the later models. With the war progressing the German did what it took to try and keep up with all the changes necessary to keep the Fw-190 effective in combat. All the bumps really show that! My personal favorite is the A9 but that's just me!:engel016:

I certainly hope so!
There went a lot more man hours/computation power and CG hokuspokus into the late variant's cockpits.
For instance we were able to increase the computed light rays during the baking process by a factor of 10.
We've produced average 1500 targa files per cockpit which were composed into 350 psd files which were then arranged on the final FSX textures.
The procedural shaders we used in Max are a heap more complex than those used on the early variants with a lot of tablet painting on blend maps (to get varying blends of paint and underlaying material, e.g. metal or bakelite, obviously most noticeable in the scratches but present throughout the mesh) and intensive post editing involved.
As a side effect of the baking process so to speak we were able to create high dynamic specular maps for the VC that you don't get too see all too often in FSX: painted surfaces, organic materials, bare metal parts all use their unique sheen/shine/hotspot values which also take into account ambient occlusion (parts occupied by other stuff aren't as shiney as parts exposed to direct light. You really gotta see that in motion while kicking the plane around the sky.
Getting the lighting right was probably the most challenging part as we're working mostly in the dark grey/black ranges (basically working with the Luftwaffe colors RLM 66 and 22 for the most part) but I'm quite satisfied how it all turns out. I'm really looking forward to update the early variants accordingly.

Thanks a bunch, Ferry.
Actually I have quite a lot of shots of the Flugwerk birds as we're in regular contact with Claus Colling of Flugwerk.
If you check their site there's a link to us with more to come very soon.
The problem when re-creating the historical otiginal is that the Flugwerk plane has some considerable detail differences so that it's not really usefull as a visual template (if you're a picky nutter like me that is).
We got some excellent feedback on the flight behaviour though.
Thanks anyway for your gracious offer, that's much apprechiated!

BTW, we're about a week away from release, give or take a day or two. :engel016:

This is one of the very few items which will appear to on my to-buy list. Having seen the Flugwerk aircraft fly in person at Duxford this year meant a lot to me...what a mighty and mean but beautiful machine, both in real life and in the Classics Hangar rendition.

Looks great!..is there going to be a Flugwerke version of your model? Just wondered as a Flug Werke 190 is on its way to New Zealand (the original prototype) and I tend to only get a/c with a NZ connection.

Thanks Naki!
Unfortunately we don't do the Flugwerk version for initial release since the developement of the modern equipment would delay a release by another two month.
Chance is that we add it at a later date as a bonus, but don't hold your breath on it right now.
When/if it's going to happen I'll announce it in time.

Man that is one sleek, mean looking beast, both the real one and the simulated one :ernae:

Hey can you put a Jumo in there and a fuselage plug for a Dora and call it good.. hehe. Anxiously awaiting this one, and wish you were doing the long-nose. :)

Mathias, are you going to animate the pilot, so when the canopy blows off, that his scarf will start blowing in the wind!?!:ernae:

If you search around, A2A is supposed to be doing a Dora.

The pilot looks particularly good though and addresses one of my pet peeves....

Normally the pilots are scaled much too small.
