Hey all,

For those of you that own Kodiaks, there is a new update pack for it. This makes it Build 2.6 now.

UPDATES CARRIED OUT:

* Garmin G1000 Graphics update to the Garmin bazel graphics along top right edge, refined
* Garmin G1000 now has;
1. Parking Brakes in Announcement / Annunciator section
2. Water Rudder in Announcement / Annunciator section
3. Gear Up 'Amphib' mode in Announcement / Annunciator section
* Over Torque effect in flight causing left hand pull and roll of aircraft when using extreme realism settings has been deleted
* Turbine Torque readout on ECIAS section of Garmin system now reads to redline (was only going to half way mark)
* New 2D panel has ratio corrected graphics and Garmins. We found that a very few computers could not handle the slightly 'out of ratio' of the Garmins gauges, causing some CTD's. The panel graphics were redone to accommodate the taller ratio of the Garmins and is now properly sized.
(Note that the Bill Leaming 'wide screen' panels option is still in the package and you can easily 'activate' the 'ws' panel by adding in the 'ws' into 'Panel' entry in the vairous aircraft Registry's at the top of the 'aircraft.cfg' file.

If you have any repaints in your present Kodiak package, then please do the 'manual' installation of this package, and carefully copy/paste your present aircraft Registry's into your 'new' Build 2.6 aircraft.cfg file so that all of your repaints show up.

To manually install this pack;
* Create a Temp Folder on your Desktop
* Run the Updater Installer
* Select type of sim to install to; FS9 or FSX
* Select 'Browse' when asked final permission and shown file location target
* Browse to Temp Folder
* Click OK
* After the installer runs, open your Temp Folder
* Open another folder and browse to your Flight Simulator folder
* Copy/paste your files in the Temp Folder into your Flight Sim folder, placing the files from one folder, into the actual FS folders

When you are done, your Build 2.5 Kodiak will then become Build 2.6.

Download link to mini update pack;
http://lionheartworld.net/schloss/LHC_QK_2_6_UPDATES_INSTALLER.exe

For those of you that had 'any' issues on CTD's, this should fix it. The 2D panel PFD screen seemed to be the real culprit and that is now fixed.

For those of you that had issues with Torque and left-wing-down effects in extreme realism settings, that is now fixed also.

I go into some details on this at my Blog here;
http://web.me.com/william_ortis/Lionheart/Blog/Entries/2009/10/29_updates_time_once_again%3B_2D_panel_and_Garmin_ work_carried_out..html

Next announcement!

I am proud to present or announce that Robert 'BananaBob' Rivera has released a Kodiak Photoreal Textures Super Pack. This is 9 of his textures in one bundle. These include both FSX and FS9 and this also features an auto installer. So if you have issues with installing paint schemes yourself, this will handle it for you. If you want to install these yourself (if you have repaints already on your system), then run it and direct the install to a Temp folder and transfer the files manually. On the last one, the aircraft config, copy/paste your existing Registry texture repaints onto the new 'aircraft.cfg' supplied with the paint pack, and you should be good to go.

This is donationware and sells for a mere $2.00, the same price as most Apps in iTunes at Apple.com.

Get the update 'first' for the Kodiak, then if you purchase the textures pack, it will auto-synch with the upgrade. Roberts paint pack has the new 'aircraft.cfg' file already installed.

Its a pretty cool package. I highly recommend it. Instant purchase, instant download, auto-install....

This is Roberts baby. He is allowing me to have a sales link to his package for the sake that others that check in to the Kodiak webpage can see it and get it. I am into the addon thing for planes and trying to promote it, including things like the famous Lewis landing lights from A2A.

Those repaints are awesome man... This puts them into one giant mega-pack.

PCAviator will be informed tomorrow on this and their installer exchanged for the new one. But, you do not need the full reinstall this time. The link to the update is to a auto-installer update pack that updates Bulid 2.5 to 2.6.

So.... No more stress on getting new reloads from the major outlets.

The only time that I really need total reloads for you all is when models are changed, etc.

There should be one on the Epic LT tomorrow as well. Both panels for each plane have been updated, Garmins upgraded, and some tidbits added.

:jump::jump: All the goodies at one time... You deserve a :ernae: and :medals:, Amigo.:applause:

BTW: Mr. "BananaBob" texture pack is a great idea; glad he's packaged it with an installer, it'll really makes it easier to re-install with changes, like updates that replace the .cfg files or new computer installations occur. And they really bring an awesome realistic look and feel to the sim'ing with them. Good Going, Mr. "BananaBob!" :applause::guinness::wavey:

All that's missing now is a Kodiak "Kelly" and an Epic "Shela!" :icon_lol:

Yes, I have... Thank you.

And... I haven't forgotton your donation check either, Mr. "BananaBob." It just took its time in processing, because I made the mistake of telling them your name was "BananaBob" and NOT Robert "Bob" Rivera. :kilroy: Its all the grey skies and rain we've been having here in Ohio. :sleep:
You should get it soon. :wavey:

I just wanted to say thanks to you, Lionheart, for your continued support of this fantastic airplane. It's been my favorite plane for FSX since buying it, and is the one I spend most of my flying time in. Great airplane, and great support! :applause:

Has anyone been able to purchase and download the paints yet? I had the download links coming to me for some reason when they are purchased? I forward them to proper address but something is wrong I think.

It appears that PayLoadz is temporarily down. Probably Server maintenance.

G'day Bill, thank you for the continuous improvement efforts. Will the 2.6 mini update pack updates 2.4b instead of 2.5?

One more thing. Is your hi-res panel texture still usable for 2.6?

Hey Wombat,

No and Yes.

You need to download the 2.5 update and install that, then install the 2.6 update.

The High Rez panel textures remain untouched, so no need to redownload those. Only the 2D panel is changed out in 2.6.

Thanks Bill for the update.

One other question is Don Kuhn's G1000 system compatible with your Kodiak/Epic? And are there panel.cfg's available for 2d/3d panels?

Thanks again :ernae:

I'll check that right now. Nothing was changed on that, so it should all be the same. Easy enough to change the mini updater.

Lionheart

Found it.

The inside area of the Aux Altimeter was showing black around one of the needles, and the bezel rim as well. This was a negatively placed gauge (coordinates in the negative zone) and was in FSX only, and in the VC only.

I have already repaired this and prepairing to upload the updated installers now.

How on earth did it get moved??????? :banghead:

Here is the fix for the panel.cfg file. Just copy/paste this into your Panel.cfg file and you should be good to go.

Has anyone been able to purchase and download the paints yet? I had the download links coming to me for some reason when they are purchased? I forward them to proper address but something is wrong I think.

I got a notification that you returned my $2 but no download link.

Yes, you can reload it using the installer. But be warned, it will erase your previous paints you have installed. Make sure you do a manual install of the parts and save a copy of your original 'aircraft.cfg' file and then copy/paste your original repaints into your newest updated 'aircraft.cfg' file.

Robert,

Sales on PayLoadz will automatically send you a copy of all transactions sent to customers. Not to worry on that part.

But, it 'should' be sending download links.

Hey Tom,

To help out Robert, could you look in your Spam mail box to see if it accidentally diverted to there. That happens with my plane links sometimes.

I noticed yesterday that PayLoadz did go offline for a while, 'Server Not Found'. That kind of freaked me out. Its like PayPal going offline. Like a big store closing for a while.

Robert, you might try resetting your product package at PayLoadz.

ok, prolly a dumb question, but what are the uninstallers for? one for the epic LT which i don't have yet, and one for the kodiak.

lolol... arrgh. I thought I had changed those out.

When it rains it pours. I think I will hire someone else to release these, lolol..

:banghead:

The installer automatically creates a uninstaller. I used the template from the Epic installer to create the newest Kodiak installer. I didnt change the Uninstaller. (Actually, I thought I did yesterday and it seems it didnt take).

Off to fix that now...

I got the same thing, Tom..... I simply made a donation to Bob over on his Siminsider pages, as he sent me a link to download the paints late last night after I reported to him that, upon purchase, I got a confirmation email, but no download link... I think we owe our friend Bob alot more than two bucks for all of his creations that we have downloaded for free for such a long time. I know Bob could use a little help right now.... Just my two pennies worth.....

Hey all,

I just did a test purchase of Roberts repaint package and the link came right in.

I remembered also that some people couldnt see a link on the contact email that came to them using certain browsers at the time. If you are using FF, you might try IE or Opera or Safari and reopen your mail and see if the link appears.

Also, you can go to www.payloadz.com and check your past purchases and look up your purchase and request another download. Usually you can automatically reload it as you have something like 24 hours to download the package.

Give that a try and see how it goes.

Mr. Bill "LionHeart,"

Are the fixes to the v2.6 installer completed, with the panel updates, the Kodiak Uninstaller, etc.? I wanted to give you enough time because I know you work real hard and there's always sooooooo much to get done. I, also, only had a few hours this weekend to do anything with FSX and really didn't have the time to re-do everything again; however, I will tonight after I get home from work.

Thanks a Million! :wavey:

CF is right. Look at the top of your 'aircraft.cfg' file (in Windows Notepad) and you should see "Build 2.6" on there.

Also, your 2D panel will have both Garmin screens showing, and your PFD screen 'Announcements' will now have water rudder and gear annunciator flags (when in Float Plane mode). And the Torque needle will now go to full redline.

If it didnt install, then you probably have FS in a diff drive location. Just run the installer again and direct it to your FS folder and click Install and you should be good to go..

Thats actually easily explained.

In the Kodiak, I do not have a gravitic tripple redundency field damper and with the throttle quad popup, having so many seperate screenshot Bitmaps in it to show 'smooooooth' movements, I had to result to using a zero point singularity to power the gauge to keep it from eating up frame rates.

So, as you can imagine, without the damper field engaged, it literally pulls open a time space chasm or rip in the FS world, creating a temporary paradign rift which thank goodness only lasts until you turn off the said 'high bitmap' contained throttle quad, in which it will then let go of the chasm and the rip disappears....

easy..

:kilroy:

in the mean time, I'll get working on 'why' its doing that..

I had 2.5 and upgrade installed with no problem.

Where can I find the donationware repaints? I want to donate just don't know how or where.

Hey Mobayrasta,

No worries. It would be cool to figure out a way to have a in-cockpit readout of which Kodiak you had. I'll have to see if thats possible.

I did a section on Roberts Photo Real Mega Pack on the Kodiak webpage at my site. Its here; www.lionheartcreations.com/Kodiak
Just scroll down to the bottom and its right before the real photos section of Kodiaks. There is a sales link that has a little shopping cart painted yellow.

Robert needs a nice little webpage that shows everything so I can link people to it.

Hey James,

Only if you are trying to save repaint registries of past repaints. Then, (the fastest way) is to save your 'aircraft config' file on your desktop (a copy) and then run the updater and or the repaints super pack, and then add your older repaint registries onto your newest 'aircraft.cfg' file and then rewrite the number sequences so they are in order.

I know.. Alot to do.. By now, some of you must have 100 different repaints of the Kodiak (including the float planes). yikes...!

Hey Lionheart, just thought I'd throw this out there, it may be useful, it may not, but just a suggestion for you.

Edit kodiak_ref.htm, and edit the line:

Ok, because the code I'm trying to post is HTML, the forum keeps processing it, even when enclosed in Code tags. I'm attaching a text file with the suggested changes.

Then, whenever you update, you can just change the number next to the word 'Build' (or version, whichever you prefer), and include the updated kodiak_ref.htm each time you update. Doing this would allow us to do a quick version check right through the kneeboard when we're already in-flight. :)

Just thought I'd mention this as a possible way to accomplish what you suggested, of being able to version check from the cockpit. :)

Hope this info is helpful in some way. :)

Thanks Mobayrasta and Lionheart. :) After I read the post about trying to find a way to display the version information from within the cockpit, I started digging around the files, trying to find a good place to put the version information. I finally settled on the reference page of the kneeboard because I figured that was the place where all the aircraft's reference information is listed, and that it would be a very quick and easy text edit to make each time the Kodiak gets updated. I'm just glad that you guys think it'll be helpful. :)

Hi, everybody!

Now, that George helped me to get splash sound to my Kodiak, I was tempted to break my "golden rule" - do not update working planes- and downloaded built 2.6 , with the hope of solution for some texture problems, which were also mentioned by a other member.
At dawn and dusk the textures are dull, the orange colour is almost red and the floats are 2 dimensional white. At a special degree of brightness the textures change to their normal look, this change causes me crashes without gamebooster and short freeze with soundloops with game booster.
Any tricks aviable?
The screenshots are only a minute away, perfomance textures installed (no difference to the default ones), default envchrome files installed ( no difference to Bobs ones).

Same dullness/lack of reflective surfaces can be seen on the VC at dusk and with aircraft lights on.

FSX. Gotta love it.

On the newest updates, nothing is done to the textures or the hard wired Materials in the Gmax build file. All the same as the early versions, which means this must be existent back then.

Is this happening with your other planes as well? Other payware that is custom made? The stock FSX planes may not be doing this, but other planes that groups or teams made might be doing this.

I would be curious to know if it can be nutralized.

In FS9, we had (have) chrome issues at night where a bug causes chrome to lose its reflection qualities. This 'might' be a twilight bug that does something similar.

Very odd. Thanks for the heads up. I'll bring this up at a Developers forum and see if anyone else has dealt with this.

Good morning,Bill

This morning I have two things on my mind:
1. Pekka is right, the texture change only comes to play with some aircraft lightning on, I wasnīt
aware of that.
2. Iīm a little suspcious about the global envchrome files, ok I deleted Bobs and put the default in,
but does that really happen? Sometimes the "system" remembers everything, specially its faults
and uninstall - reinstall doesnīt help (ie 8, WOP3 P47 update)...
