Terrible! Not everyone has a 4000 pixel wide display. ;) ;)

I guess you have the Matrox triplhead as well? That is some display area you have there...

Don't need a triple-head with the newer ATI cards, they support wide screen multi-monitor resolutions natively. Did have to get a powerd cable (USB powered) from Dell to get third monitor connected, but it works great in FSX. 5760 x 1200:ernae:

Thats one of the things I was wondering, that if the 5870 had the power to run FSX at that res. Is it playable?

Running on an i7 965 @ 3.8 Ghz, 12 Gig Ram. Getting 36 fps in the pictures. Autogen at 3/4 and water at 2.x (don't recall exact settings for those two) but everything else set at max. It does dip to high teens/low 20's over Seattle and I got 23.x flying toward Boston, but it is very playable. It also doesn't like a lot of the freeware aircraft and non-FSX optimized pay aircraft framerate-wise.

Over default Friday Harbor (Megascenery):

Yeah, the TripleHead2Go hack should go away now that the 5870's out.

What's going to be really interesting is the upcoming card with *6* DisplayPort outputs. That might be a bit much for the 5870, even, with FSX, but I'm sure they'll do a 5870 X2 version...

The HD5850s tested faster than the GTX285s at high resolution in our labs, and rendered a better picture clarity and quality. There were three game exceptions but it won in 7 out of 10 top games to include FSX. The HD5870 is a real cut above as well. These are the video cards that ATI has been striving for. Check Shoprite Specials (https://www.ladysavings.com/publix-weekly-ad/?shoprite/) and Spar Specials (https://www.ladysavings.com/publix-weekly-ad/?spar/). The HD5870 will not stay the fastest card for long as Nvidia does have the GTX300 series out in test market areas now, but there are some serious driver issues reported by these markets

Now that sounds like a goooood idea.

Looks like there's still tweaking to be done. The textures are pretty blurry. I'd suggest increasing your LOD RADIUS to like 6.5 or maybe even 8

Well, it could be the 8AA or the fact that the pictures posted here are artifically compressed in size by Photobucket (3998 X 833 displayed here versus original 5760 X 1200).
Looks great to me on the fly so probably won't tweak a thing.:ernae:

No surprise, since the 5xxx cards are made for DX11.

The DX10 8800 also wiped the floor with the DX9 X1950 back in 2006. As did the DX9 9700Pro with the DX8 Ti4800 back in 2003. And the DX8 Geforce 3 with the DX7 Radeon 64 back in 2001.

All this has happened before and will happen again.

;P

Too bad, you're missing out on a lot. Crank the autogen up, extend the LOD radius and you'll be in FSX heaven.

Well...Heck...

My little E5200 OCed to 3.4 runs FSX at 35 locked too with XP and 4 gigs PC8500 ram.

Looking good...I think they say that photosceneries will display better if you run frames unlimited..At least for FS9 they did...

TXNetCop, not sure where you're hearing GTX300 rumors, but the Tesla chips aren't out in the wild at all yet. As i understand it, the number of existing cards is still in the double digits -- it's a 2010 product, and they only got the first chips taped out a couple of months ago.

So yeah, the drivers would be pretty raw at this point. :)

Yea, cause the blurries I see in those pics aren't from image compression or AA8, they're very recognizable by anyone afflicted with the dreaded blurries. It wouldn't hurt to try the LOD change suggested.

Hey Denny, it's not rumors we are one of the test facilities

Hey Ted, any chance you could "accidentally" lose one and ship it to me? lol! That gtx260 you recommended is working out fine, thank you very much.:ernae:

I don't think I would get past the guard..he already told me I look suspicious! LOL I love competition between manufacturers. It means we win! Back to my hole...
