I've make the "read me" so quickly and the latest tests with the afd on a fresh cfs2 have done so many unwanted issues ....:isadizzy:.......:a1451:......:a1310:........: censored:......:redfire:.......all that give that i have forget to do a spécial GSL read me to clearly credit him of the realize of this part of the scenery

The scenery work nicely with the Rhumbaflppy DEM8 mesh ,they are lod 8,but since the begin I've started the scenery from the mesh side ,it was a time (2004) when i was simply happy to see the elevations ,with the lod 9 mesh bgl I'd edited,to give a form to the rock http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/images/icons/icon26.gif.....,so the built was done with lod9 mesh and I've made these two bgls that cover the entire scenery part 1 and the (WIP)part 2 (Morocco West and Algeria)
These lod9 today are optionnal for cfs2 but they give some nice screenshots http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/images/icons/icon10.gif .

Sorry for the GSL_objects_links.doc it's not very clear but the objects used for the gsl and layouts are often these used in the MR's ,Achim's etc...sceneries object made by mainly Wolfi ,Xavier, Jmk ,GaryBurn,Lyndsay watts etc...
There is an object that you'll not find ,I've not the link and Dominique ,who sent it to me ,doesn't known also from where ,link or campaign pack, he got it ....
this search object is needed for the Gibraltar projecteurs 1940.lay
Here in attachement the search.txt ,replace the extension .txt to .zip
you will have the searchlight object.
place the dp in object DP and the bgl in the scenedb/inf/scenery

I'm struggling with MS Vista on my lap top over here. I can change the .txt to .zip easily with XP on my computer back home, but how is it done with Vista? Any one know how to crack the code with of Vista? I must be missing something in the menu somewhere.

Jagd, You have to "save as" with Vista. So, if someone sends you a zip with a txt extension, just save it as its name.zip as a new file.

Example: SpitVb.zip.txt you right click the file and save as: SpitVb.zip It will caution you about changing the file attributes, just ignore it and save as without the TXT extension.

The nice part about having an early and a late Med install is that I can centralize the main scenery and have the "1940" installed in my Early Med, and the "1943" in my Late Med install.

From the screen shots, not only the new Afnor mesh is inactive, but none of your add on mesh above LOD 7 seems to be active. Is your Afnor mesh in layers 32 or 34? If so it should be working, but you might want to confirm that all is well in those folders or that your LOD 8 and 9 mesh folders are active.

I don't have access to CFS 2 right now, so I can't verify your higherarch, but I like to keep all my mesh down at the bottom of the list, the land class just above the mesh, then the airfields and other scenery objects next up with the Terrain, CFS 1 objects, Airfield Data, Default Scenry, Ships, Weapons and what not up at the top. When I experience a problem like yours, it is usually fixed by moving one or two of the offending files up or down in the list.

Thanks for the "fix" for Vista. That's quite different from XP. Piece of cake now.

XP had a Properties option to "Show Extensions" and you could edit the .txt to .zip in that manner.

Hi Rami,

Try deactivating the Gibraltar scenery layer and see what happens. My order of sceneries is identical to yours except the Gibraltar scenery layer is below (above in the list) the adjacent north African and Spanish scenery layers and my Malta layers are above the Gibraltar bases layer.

It's perhaps a flatten bgl used in another scenery that works accidently for this place,what is exactly the size of this flat surface ?
I remember we had a similar flat on the rock in a old beta test.

I'm still trying to find one of the objects used in this wonderful pack: palme02.

By the name I'd say it's a tree, but it's none of Lindsay Watt's trees, and couldn't find it in all my objects downloads. Any help appreciated :icon29:

Progress! It's not any of the airbases or GSL objects. This means that it has to be in either Sander or Rhumbaflappy's stuff. I'll now comb through and look through the various folders.

UPDATE: Nothing is jumping out. Could someone who has it working please post their scenery.cfg so I can compare it to mine?

I just fired up my MTO and free flew around your Rock! Nice scenery! I am having some visual annomallies though. On the south shore I have buildings in the water. On the East shore I have water up the side and a square cement looking building in the water.

I will have to see what mesh is conflicting with it.

Other than these, it is fantastic looking scenery.

The theory behind this is because the Gibraltar scenery includes waterclass, I place it just above Sander's files, so that way the exclusion files do not cancel it out. I use this same method for Malta, and it works fine! So I'm simply stumped.

There is one thing I would like to add. It is a personal preference of mine.
Adding the dem9 mesh through the Scenery Library of CFS2.
Sometimes this will come in handy when a problem arises. From the Library it can be turned on or off. An extra option to use if needed.
Adding from the scenery library meaning;
Place the 946190m.bgl and 947190m.bgl in a folder named Scenery. Then place the scenery folder into a new one 'example; Lod9 Gibral.
Put the Lod9 Gibral folder into Scenedb or where ever one stores files of this type.
Navigating to it activate or deactivate via the Scenery Library. Moving it up or down...
This has helped me on many occasions where conflicts were.
It is always good to have options. :ernae:

I was going to mention that. If you're using Rhumbaflappy's new watermasks and LOD mesh, you should not be using his older coast flattens. That will only cause problems, as Jean Bomber said.

Yes. Sander's stuff will block whatever is placed below it, but only in the areas where his scenery exists. If you have Rhumbaflappy's older files placed above it, than that's likely why you're having interference problems.

I'm having GSL trouble. I've added JeanBomber's sceneries and they look great, but the added GSL scenery for Gibraltar, Ceuta and Oran doesn't show, despite the fact that when I add them the size of the main GSL file increases. I have tried removing them and reinstalling them several times and that seems to work given the increase/ decrease in the size of cfs2.gsl. When I start the sim, however, the buildings and infrastructure don't show up. Any ideas? is there an upper limit to the size of cfs2.gsl?

It seems that it's not only a gsl issue ,perhaps a wrong hierarchy position in the scenery library,in the first pic the gibraltar land and water masks( ROCK43_LC_3.bgl,ROCK43_WC_3.bgl) don't work....:isadizzy:
The Gibraltar40,Gibraltar43,Afnor_Bases sceneries folders must be placed to the top, the same level of any airbases addon ,and the Afnor_Scen will go to the bottom ,in the scenery library,upper than the mesh dem7 ,8 and R's watermasks ,if you use them.
About the cfs2gsl file size ....I don't know ???

ROCK43 that could be too ROCK40 depend of the version you have actived ,these bgls are the masks land and water that cover the cfs2 map and in the first pic the cfs2 mask appear under the Gib harbor....
the ROCK(40)43_LC_3.bgl,ROCK(40)43_WC_3.bgl are on Gibraltar40\scenery or Gibraltar43\scenery ,that you have normally installed in their folders....
I think the problem is about an activation or a hierarchy level of the Gibraltar40 or 43 sceneries ,they can't work in the same time too....
,Oran is OK so the Afnor_scen and bases are active and OK .
Try to Reinstall the both Gib40 43 sceneries and reactive alternatively the versions.???
for the gsl try to add them in a virgin stock cfs2gsl file to see .....

OK, i have tried as hard as i could and i got the objects to show up and i have em all, but the rock is not working for me. I did copy the World/Textures to the main texture file for CFS2, but i am getting the squares of colour and buildings floating up in the air on the rock.

i will post my scenery order...i am NOT using Rhumbas new mesh but Sanders stuff and Rhumbas Old coastlines and waters...

i hope someone can help, i am at a loss what to do, i have moved the Afnor Scenery up and down, ditto the Gibraltar LOD9s....still got a big green loaf and squares.

i tried deleting ALL the sceneries i had, and re installing them all, via the Add Scenery function. I cant post my scenery cfg because it wont update ...after i added everyting back in the added sceneries are not showoing up on the list. but i have the basic stuff at the bottom, the AFnor scenery and the LOD9 and the other stuff higher up.

any suggestions are very welcome, i am giving up on this for now.

I've made some polys with them and if they are not that gives a result like in yours pics ,anyway these green brown squares appear when a texture bmp is missing somewhere....

perhaps the reason ..I use the Rhumba's cfs2 summer texture (cfs2su.zip) directly in my scenedb/world/texture so You could too ,if you don't want modif your scenedb/world/texture ,put these summer texture bmp in the Afnor_Scen/texture folder instead of active a new scenery ....that should work too by this way...

OK putting Rhumbas Summer into the World/texture and also into Afnor and Gibralter to be safe....i think i am still getting water where there should be land on the western point, and there is an urban texture on the side of the north side of teh rock that looks wrong? and when i take off from the start up field in Gibralter 40 there is no pavement or strip to take off from, just land.

I tried again, deleted all teh File.DAT files in the related sceneries, Afnor Bases, Afnor Scenery, Gibralter LOD (where i have the mesh bgls.) and moved the LOD up even above Sanders Global exclude, and put the Rhumba Summer Texture in all texture folders... and i am still getting water on the point and around the warehouses in the north harbour .... will study all the load scenery lists in this thread again...

I think i have more coast problems not just here...this was along to the west....i noticed the same problem..i may have too many coast bgls or conflicting ones.... i was trying to use Sanders but i also have Rhumbas old coasts and may have too many trying to compete...

I don't see too the rhumba's watermask( NP that can work without) and I don't see also the Afnor_bases scenery (???) in your scenery.cfg ...
I advice you to separe your cfs2 pacific, euro cfs2 and africa cfs2 ,make different install for these theatres for the planes the textures the sceneries and gsl that will be more clear

SdC Mesh is Sanders Mesh for his Europe scenery. But i do think i have two coastlines dong the same thing.... the second one CFS2 Europe is Rhumbas' old coastlines and i thought it could cover what Sander did not, but maybe that is causing coflict. i will work on it a bit later on

ys, i thought of two installs, but to be honest i needed to learn and decided to try this way, with Sanders stuff and Rhumbas old water to have the coasts intact.... and then see about doing an ETO and a PTO later. thanks so much i wil keep trying .

I think it's about a priority level conflict somewhere ....it's like if the Afnor_scen doesn't work but that it's strange ....that's only concern the landwater mask they not work ....:isadizzy: I really don't understand ....????
Rest that the complete scenery to properly work needs to set up the two sceneries Afnor_scen and the Afnor_bases, and one version of Gibraltar....

Hi all

here attached the new waterclasses bgls to fit with the upgraded Egypt med texture http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/images/icons/icon23.gif and they will correct the first set that was defficient ,there was some issues for sailing in many places in the scenery .It's not a complete waterclasses rework that concerne the coast areas the rivers and the lakes you can even now sail on them :icon_lol: .

A new vRailwsu.bmp that replace the previous versions that they had not a good redenring on the ground due to a worst calibration ,the junctions between the segments was not on the right line ,the alpha channels and the color was also not very good .
The new is not the ultimate ... but the junctions and the darker color make that the rendering seems better ,it's difficult with the low definition of the terrain textures in cfs2 to easy give a good look at this railway line.
