I know , I'm "Jumping the Gun" and that is a no no with developers but have been really looking forward to this one . I had the thrill of a lifetime about three years ago when I got to take a ride in a Stearman (barrell rolls and all) .

Just downloaded. :wiggle:Now I'm off to fly.:jump::jump:

Happy Birthday, Rich. Nice party ain't it?

Bob

Just took the new Stearman around the patch a couple of times. As with everything from GAS, she's a winner. I'm not a VC fan but it's terrific in both the stearman and Boeing Model 40.

GAS hit a grand slam again.

The models just keep getting better and better. And me not yet able to even consider getting anything designed exclusively for FSX. Rub it in guys..rub it in.

Great bump mapping from the looks of the first shot

The aircraft has either FsX or Fs9 versions to download.

Beautiful modeling, always loved the Stearman. the only thing I would have liked is more advanced texturing, perhaps baking so that it had some shadow/depth to the different areas, including the cockpit. this aircraft just screamed to be flown in DX10 mode with all the wires and supports.

Well done guys!!:ernae::ernae::ernae:

I've been bashing the circuit in the new Stearman. Next stop - Sunday afternoon cross-country. She flies very nicely, sounds great, and four models for $25 is not to be sneezed at. Frame rates are also excellent, in fact my sole disappointment is the 'plank of wood' appearance of the wings and (especially) the tail seen as from the VC. Is this a model issue or just something in the textures? If it could be fixed with a repaint I'd be a happy bunny. Pics of Piglet's WACO for comparison..

Yep, I hadn't really been following this and had it not been for this thread coming back around I probably would have missed it altogether. Beautifully done and a blast to fly, especially since it actually get's above 100kts in straight and level flight, lol (my main criteria for purchasing "slow" aircraft).

Great job, although the sounds don't seem correct to me for some reason. We had a Stearman hangared where I used to work and I've heard it crank first hand. . .this doesn't sound anything like that engine did.

was it a Continental or a Lycoming radial at your facility?

Couldn't tell ya actually. All I remember the guy telling me was that his Stearman was one of those fitted with the more powerful radial engine. Don't know if that pinpoints it or not.

Hmm the PT-17 i saw at the Hahnweide (Continental) sounded exactly like the GAS PT-17.
Really a great package, which would deserve a lot nice repaints.

Can someone clarify for me which of the GAS products are FSX native and which aren't? I presume it's just the Model 40 and the Model 75 Stearman as these have seperate installers, is this correct?

Roger

Yes that is correct although I have ported over the QCF and others with good effect.

Yep, it's really not a big deal. I've had only that one Stearman to base all Stearman's on and it was just a case of cranking this one up and thinking. . .that's not what I remember. It's not going to keep me from flying it, to be sure.
