I was wondering what determines the maneuverability of aircraft in FSX. Is the aircraft model designed simply for aesthetic purposes and then the performance is input through coding, or is it the flight model itself that determines how aerobatic it will be? For example, could I model an egg shaped plane with wings the size of a fist and then set it to perform like an F-22? Or would the model have to accommodate that level of aerobatics?

The visual model and the flight physics are independend from each other. Flight physics are defined in the aero file (with extension ".air") and in the aircraft.cfg.
So yes, the visuals do not affect the flight behaviour.

The visual model has no effect whatever on the flight dynamics. You could just as easily have a flying brick, or the Seattle Space Needle for a model... :bump:
