.
An FSX upgrade of the MAAM-SIM (http://www.maam.org/maam_sim.html) B-25J 'BRIEFING TIME' is presently in progress. It is intended to be a solid port-over rather than the patched version previously available. It will be issued as a free upgrade for current owners, replacing the Basic Compatibility Upgrade now available. The VC has been redesigned to incorporate a lot more working controls and an engine failure feature has already been instituted. There may be some small performance differences, but the plane flies very well in FSX in its present form.

Please be aware, this project is still in Beta.

This is very good and long awaited news! I've been using the patched version for FSX and it's "ok", but a true FSX compatible version will be great. :applause::applause::applause::applause:

Three years in to FSX and we are still having portovers foisted off on us? Even if it is called a "Solid port over".

OK - the main excellent news is that it is a free upgrade. :monkies:

Be advised it has improvements and upgrades and required a lot of effort to get this far. It is an incremental step.

The FSX Native version is also in progress.

Good news. I have the prior upgrade and it is nice. Would fly it more, but any time I run it or their DC3 I can't change planes, and must restart FSX. Hope that problem gets fixed.

This is really some god news for me to hear. I gotta say besides the new Piper, this bird is one of my favorites to fly. Even with the issues from porting it over. My only issues really is cant start engines in a cold start. Even following the step by step on how to start it. Over on there forums a few years back they said it had to do with my frame rates. This is good news.:jump:

The other little bit of good news is that despite large scale modifications to the model, the mapping has remained the same so, with a bit of tweaking, existing repaints will work fine. All I did was to copy only the external textures into a folder, together with a "texture.cfg" copied from a default aircraft and I have 12 "Tea Time - Want Some?" RAF repaints flying around RAF Dunsfold as AI at the moment.

Looks like one of us needs to show Nick how to stop the peelow from getting a cold elbow, though. ;)

Shylock: Try going into aircraft.cfg and increasing normalized_starter_torque in the piston_engine section to 3.0 rather than either 1.8 or 2.2, which it will probably be, depending on the version you are using. What works for some people doesn't seem to work for others - for instance this new version on my existing rig, with frame rates in the high 20s, requires setting the starter torque to 2.9 - Mrs. P's older, slower, PC with lower frame rates only requires a setting of 1.8 to start every time.

Ian I will give it another try. How is it that frame rates dictae the start up? Thanks bud.

Umm... Pass?

I don't know how it works, or even if it is specifically frame rate dependent - it seems more "just machine dependent" to me. All I know is that a bunch of people tested it and I think 3.0 was the first figure that absolutely everyone could start it using.

Let me know how you get on, please?

It's not being foisted off on you, it's an update to an existing model, free to those who already own it.

Precisely!!

Does anyone have any ideas why mine keeps CTDing when I open a 2D popup panel? It occasionally happens when I turn on the lights too (with the L key).

I really look forward to this patch and even moreso to the native version. There still isn't a bomber out there that matches this one, IMHO.

Precisely!!

keep in mind that maam-sim promised an fsx version when the sim first came out. it was why i bought briefing time in the first place. i didn't even have fs9 when i made that purchase. it's not as if one or two people clamored for it and they are being appeased. they volunteered it of their own accord from the begining of fsx. in between time they developed and released at least one other model. while all of us who bought briefing time love it, and sure are glad to hear the recent news, it's been a long time in coming and naturally some us feel it should/could have been sooner.

i understand that folks here want to be careful of starting a flame war, and no one wants to upset the developers. especially ones like maam-sim who put out a great product for a great price, that benefits a very worthy cause. however, the truth is the truth. some folks find it unpleasant to mention but that doesn't make it any less true.

One of my all time favorites.
Used it in FS2004 very often, but it got a little rusty in the Hangar because I changed completely to FSX.

:ernae: Really happy to get it upgraded to FSX.

Nope stilll a no go for me. I tried 3.0 and worked my way down to 2.0 and nada.
