And this will be the first pole for MacLaren since one year!!
Both Ferrari's did well, but I guess Alonso has some concerns with his 7th place on the grid!

No, it's the first pole for Mercedes. :d
I think they qualified with less fuel than the other teams so they could get the pole in front of the homecrowd.

Renault couldn't use their (finally outlawed) mass damper system....:running:

Neither could (at least) six other teams, including Ferrari..

It obviously had a bigger effect on Renault because they sucked :costumes: ......So perhaps they had a few other "things" incorporated in it....:cost1:

Anyway, with three straight Ferrari victories, both championships are now wide open again ! :applause:
The gap between Michael and Alonso is now only eleven points, and only ten points seperate Renault and Ferrari.
On to the hungaroring next week!

So much for the "Cutting Edge of Motorsport Technology".
Effwun.....'Never in the field of Human Endevour has so much money been invested for so little return' (apologies to Churchill!) :kilroy:
FWIW, according to the 'rules' (such as they are!) the system is not illegal, Renault decided not to run it 'just in case'.
Charlie Whiting just made another one of his 'Bernie Inspired' decisions that Renault needed to be handicapped a trifle ...... after all, Herman and FIAT need to 'win' again.
BTW, do you know how it works Panther?
Nothing very unusual about it and certainly more applicable to a normal car than the dumdb'aerodynamic packages' in EffWun.:d

Engine development "Freeze" has been confirmed for 2008.
Harder rubber for 2007!
Renault are allowed to keep the Mass Damper System BTW .... :d
Nico did a great job at Hockenheim (not!) BTW ....:d while the 'not so good' Mark Weber put in just about the best drive of the lot only to have the thing go bang again.
Crossed my mind, Williams-Toyota for 2007, they might have some good dices with the Midland Toyota lot .... but at least they should be ahead of the 2002 Arrows Hondas.
