How can ya stop a wife from clicking every freaking thing on her screen before she reads what she is clicking. This is the fifth time she has either downloaded a virus or a trojan. Last night she got that damn malware " Total Security" which is a pain in the bullocks to 100% remove. Most of the time she has trashed her pooter I have had to do a full format. I told Linda I can't for the life of me figure how she can work at a bank and be safe and then come home and do what she does. I don't let her sit in my pooter chair much less use it. I won't even except a file or a email from here pooter cus I never know what is in the file...lol. She has AVG security paid version, Dr Spyware and two othe spam and spy where programs and still gets trashed. She asked me last night how come I never get anything...I said stop clicking and excepting everthing. I also told her the only thing she can do to never get anymore crap on her pooter is never turn it back on...lol Wanna click something..play with da TV remote.

My brother is horrific for that Moe. I spent last weekend getting that goldanged HealDiskCleaner Malware off his box. So let's not genderize this, it's a stupid-I-don't-know-what-I-am-doing kind of thing, my sister-in-law is just as bad, They only use the computer, never maintain it, thinks they're like cars and will maintain themselves. You gotta do regular maintenance folks. And stay away from porn and goofballs offering you wondrous programs to speed up and clean your system (especially those schmucks on TV). Avoid redundancy, get a good anti-virus like AVG (Norton and McAfee work too much in the background). I highly recommend Advanced System Care by IOBIT for spyware, registry, and system optimization. IOBIT doesn't brainwash you, just quick and easy.

But don't just use your computer, give it a TLC daily maintenance.

Click happy...yep. That's my wife, AND kids. Sometimes I feel like curing it by removing the power supply all together...lol. The wife's gotten a lot better since I installed Firefox and the script blocker plug-in. Now she can physically see what is junk and what's not.

TLC, I dust it everyday, I don't have a spyware on this one.... the man said i don't need it!

My "other " computers, I don't use much, I dust it every time I clean the house, I have Avast...

Is there anymore I need to do than dusting? Doesn't it take care of itself every so often it was programmed to do?

Mike,

It is good Linda knows how to use her computer, I don't. Hannah would tell me, mom, you need to click on this. And I work with computer everyday!

I let a woman borrow my computer "to check her e-mails". When I came back, she had deleted my graphics drivers:crybaby:

You would think we would have protections by now against these new virus'...

Todays software sciences, and we cannot get up defenses against these kinds of virus' that have been out for perhaps 3 years now..

Wifey is 'trigger' happy as well, BUT I rigger her puter to be relatively safe:
running XP sp2 on her box- she has NO admin rights, and did NOT share admin PW with her
Firefox 3 (setup to automatically update)
Outlook express mail client-setup to NOT allow attachments unless from peeps in her contact list
Adblock plus and Noscript addons installed, (she don't know how to allow filtered content) snicker ;)
AVG installed (set to automatically update- Resident NOT active) also scans Email and attachments
Spybot S&D installed, resident ACTIVE
ADAware installed as well.
NO torrent client of ANY kind (No limewire, etc)
All that and many HOURS of 'dual instruction', 9 months and NO infections to date.
