I've had an abnormality show up that's making the sim unplayable.
The plane selection screen turns black after a few seconds...or bypassing that...a few seconds into flight the screen freezes and then frees but with the panel in a black screen....sound is present...aircraft controls are working...but nothing else.
I had the same problem with a payware spit sometime ago in my ETO...the culprit was the trilinear filter... once off...the spit worked fine.
What's especially worrisome this time around is that...since yesterday when everything was OK... I havn't changed a thing...and just as troubling..both ETO and PTO are effected and they're completely seperate installs.
Another thing that's happening after sim malfunction that didn't before is computer screen resolution changes...pixs drop to lowest 800x600 and color to 16 bits?
Since no error message shows up and there's nothing for me to backtrack and of course lack of technical skills...I'm at a loss.http://72.36.178.76/sohforums/images/smilies/icon34.gif

What plane? Could be your harware? What you running and for how long? Is your system well ventilated/cooled?

I'm not sure about Nvidia but the newer radions have an 'ai' setting that runs in the background, tis maybe possible that this, or similar has automatically adjusted something. The ai can be disabled in the advanced display settings, right click your screen and select properties...etc.

other than that, not sure.

I was afraid someone might say "it could be your hardware". I'm running Dell P992 on 128 DDR ATI Radeon 9700...2 1/2 yrs old...well ventilated.
It doesn't make any difference which plane...in fact it won't let me select...the black plane select screen is a Japanese fighter PTO the black screen with the panel is FDG2's P-51 ETO.
I've gone into properties...nothing appears amiss....would you advise a trouble shoot of animations/video? Before I try anything else I'm going to do a reboot but somehow don't think it will get me out of trouble this time.
Thanks JD...appreciate your help.
Someone please tell me it's not my hardware!http://72.36.178.76/sohforums/images/smilies/crybaby.gif

All it took was a reboot...without your response JD it probably wouldn't have even dawned on me to try. Thanks!!! Happy flying!
