There was one question I could not work out from all those pages which is how to get on the boat other than landing on. Is that possible?

You can slew onto the boat (with the Y key and arrow keys), but if you save the flight and reload it later, you will probably end up in water. Details here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=18535

yeah get david's tracks and just slew onto it, I have to do that as AIcarriers just doesn't work for me!
