Nah its the french navies lollipop frigate:icon_lol:. Although the sailor looks to be N.American from the uniform.

Very strange photo RedRiver...you even have a "Tomthumb" figure on the bow, plus the odd old paint work on the ship..

yep you can see where they painted over another figure like it a few feet above.

i don't know whats up with the white sheets over those areas of the stern...i took those photos the last day we were there (Mobile, Ala.). the first day when i saw it the sheets weren't there:isadizzy:

hmmm..i don't know..there were pelicans around but they were mostly brown pelicans (state bird of La. btw)...

they are obviously some kind of bird tho....i looked through several other photos...

some photos i found of Independence on sea trials...she's capable of 40+ knots supposedly...

:icon_lol:My giuess is it's the bow of a sunken destroyer sticking up out of the water. WWII or shortly there after time frame.
