Some years ago, the first one, a De Havilland Beaver crashed shortly after takeoff because of engineproblems.
The pilot and passengers were killed in the crash.

After some time, a new waterplane offered the tours in Hamburg City.
It is a nice idea, starting directly in the Harbour.

Well, I just heard the second fell into water just hours ago. Pilot could get out himself.
Two passengers (a couple) were pulled out, but the woman died.

This is soo sad ! And of course it is the end for a waterplane in the city, I guess.

From the picture, it looks like he left his gear down. That gets more amphib drivers than any thing-
and its a lack or training, nothing more.

my ex employer lost a POS AT-802 due to that. same deal. The horn goes off with the gear up when you pull the throttle back and annoys the driver, so he pulls the CB on the warning system and shuts off all the gear position indication. DUH-OH!
Of course, they prang 2 of three Air Cows a year. Horrid airplane.

Jaxon,

Didn't you fly in the Beaver prior to it's crash? Seems like you posted some photos of your flight several years ago.

Yes, I had to look for the dates myself - the Beaver crashed in 2006 and I flew in it in 2005, I think.

BTW: In the meantime, the man died as well. Only the pilot survived with a shock. Indeed the gear seems to be the reason. If it was forgotten to retract or was a failure has to be examined now. The plane was a new Cessna 206 „Soloy“and in use since may. It came from Bremen, where is probably started on land...
