I want to get a TrackIR 5 set up so I went to Natural Point's forums to see what kind of issues I might face. Yikes!!! I was expecting to read a lot of problems as you would on a support forum but it has me second guessing.

Before I lay out over $200 I'd like to know if anyone has this combination working.

I am using the track IR 5 software with my TR 4 hardware and it works grreat. The new software interface is much better. The SW is a free upgrade if you already using TR4.

My system is Vista 64 ultimate.

I also use TIR 4 on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit machine. It works flawlessly. However, I prefer the older TIR4 software, so that is what I'm using.

I've got a TIR 5 w/the latest software and Win7 64 -- does that count? Works fine here. No problems to report.

Thank you very much guys.

I figured it'd be OK but wanted several second opinions.
Can't wait to get it now. My poor wallet.

Excellent!

Have to wait for pay day and then wait for delivery from across Canada. Patience, ugh! Well I've simmed for 8 months with out it I guess another couple weeks won't kill me (especially since there is no bogie on my six in FSX).

Does anyone have all of the above plus MATROX TH2GO? (triple head to go)? I have Track IR4, but never used it.

This all requires some horsepower; I have I7 940 OC 3.8; 6GB RAM and 1GB Nvidia 285.

Just curious about all four and specs?

Well, close. I don't have the Track IR 5 software yet, but am running Track IR 4 hardware and software on Vista 64, plus a TripleHead2Go driving 3 20" Dell monitors. Hardware is an i7 965 OC t0 4.0, 6GB OCZ Ram (1600 @ 8-8-8-24), and a 1GB GTX 280.

Runs beautifully. System is tuned via Nick Needham's specifications. Using FPS limiter, I run consistently around 30 FPS rural, 20 urban (except New York, which is hopeless). Using 3D clouds and 59% AI (MyTraffic 5.2a). The only tuning I've had to do is to trim autogen to Dense - I can run Extremely Dense in most areas, but running at Dense leaves overhead for weather (I use REX 2.0 textures, FEX 1024 clouds, and ASA as the weather engine). Textures are crisp throughout and fast to load. Sim is smooth at all times - no stutters.

I don't really have a standard of comparison since I built the system with the TripleHead2Go in place from the start. I suppose the TripleHead is costing me some performance but the effect is more than worth it.

Judging by your specs, you should do fine.

Hope this helps.

I had Track IR4, along with TH2GO on an 32bit XP system. When I had the TH2GO setup I did not get good performance but come to find out that was a different problem that I am still dealing with today. I think Track IR and a projector is a great combo.
