If you mean IS there one, well there's a freebie over at Aeroplane Heaven. It's FSX compatible but not native, and there are the usual prop issues in SP2 or Acceleration. It's basically the one from the AH 'Mid War' Spitfire pack. The VC was great for its day - VCs I should say, there are two separate models so you can fly it from either seat.

Well, if I can ever get back into the SOH upload section, I have converted DDS.DXT5 textures for my Dutch repaint of this. I also made a new propwash to properly represent the four-blade prop.

Absolutely beautiful!!
Have you by any chance made a repaint of G-CCCA Duxford's two-seater "H-98"? That is my favourite plane!

Some reference pix please, I shall slip it on the "to-do" list. :jump:

QS, as soon as I hear from Douglas, I'll send the textures up.

Not my pics but they show her from most angles. The model comes painted as she used to look, in her green Irish Air Corps livery.

Houston, we have a problem!

Young Rowdy, in inspecting the AH textures, the horizontal tail is mirrored! What this means, is that there is no way one can paint the camouflage pattern, it must be one color only.

It will be bear enough aligning the camouflage along the fuselage and matching that to the wing texture. But hey, there are always concessions. Why not give the bird a single color (got a favorite?) and then the markings of the Duxford IXT?

I had a time finding the spinner on the Dutch repaint I did. :icon_lol: Still need to add so exhaust stain to a couple of textures, AH has many.

Hi Caz,

John Terrell did this one for the 2-seater, don't know if it might help to have a look at it? Please don't think I'm impugning your skills - I know zip about painting, just trying to be helpful. The file is called greenwoodspitfire.zip and I found it at Flightsim.com

You da man SW, off to get it so I can lurk on his textures. :applause:

Get a no file listed for the zip and searched all of John's repaints to no avail. John is a busy man. :medals:

Will have a go at a few other sites. If you have it, let me know, I'll PM you with my email addy.

Ah so, found at AvSim. That's for the payware Just Flight/Aeroplane heaven Spitfire package, which includes the Mk IXT and they are slightly different textures from the freeware Aeroplane Heaven.

But God love's us, so I have it and will proceed to repaint that in the Duxford repaint. Sorry Rowdy, but I'll have to pull a Panther on you and force you to seek payroll and get the Just Flight Spitfire package. :engel016:

If you get the payware release, I already have put together the Duxford-based example, as a repaint for the two-seater included. Unfortunately I did the repaint before I began using the right colors, however. I would love to see a new repaint of this aircraft, Caz, with correct colors, and if it helps any I think my repaint could be used to more quickly create the camo-pattern.

This is a repaint only for the Aeroplane Heaven/Justflight Spitfire. This Spitfire, PV202, was built at Castle Bromwich in 1944 as an LF IX. Completed after the D-Day landings, PV202 entered service in October 1944 with No.33 Sqn. and later with 412 Sqn in which it scored three kills. Post-war, she was one of six Mk IX's sold to Vickers for conversion to a two seat Type 509 configuration, for use with the Irish Air Corps in 1950. Her most recent restoration was in 2002 - flying again in 2004 and painted as she was when operating with the Irish Air Corps. Over the winter of 2006/2007 she was once again repainted, this time into the markings of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air Force).

And there you go young Rowdy, I have a 5-K cross-country race to work at 4:00 in this sauna anyhow. I do have the payware Bomber, thanks plenty. Anything under $30.00 Yankee these days for both FSX and FS9 is a bargain.

I do have the savvy to adopt the JF/AH textures over to the freeware AH IXT, but I shall not out of trust for Bomber and crew, they do great work. :medals:

I finally got upload privileges, thanks Douglas. :medals:

The FSX Dutch textures have been uploaded. PLEASE read the Read Me, it is absolutely necessary for both the Instructor and Pupil models to show in FSX.

Rowdy, in FS9 you'll be in Spitfire Heaven. In FSX, the DXT5 bitmap textures for the canopy glass and propspin are not too good. I am making new propwashes for all versions, which go from a two-blade prop all the way to a six-blade (two three-blade counter rotating props). :isadizzy:

I have already amended the glass texture for FSX. The front canopy and reflector sight show up black in the VC in FSX and for the life of me, I cannot find the texture to correct it! :isadizzy:

But it contains the works, as you will know by now. :medals:

Oh, well I'm not going to get Fs2004 just for the two-seat spitfire.

Maybe some day, some one will make a good quality FSX dual spitfire, who agrees this would be pretty cool?

Hi there I have downloaded John Terrell's repaint of G-CCCA, and am struggling to get it to work on the freeware model, (Why they didn't just upload the model from Mid-war series is a mystery to me:confused:). So far I have aligned the wings and fuselage correctly, but am losing with the underside...which remains Irish green... does any one have any suggestions or time to help out, as I would love to fly favourite aircraft on FSX. I've even tried to do a little sreen shot art with what i've got....

Hi Rowdy,

The twin-seat model that is freeware is based on the model we produced for Historic Flying Limited. This is different to the one found in the Mid-War series as it contained more detail and was differently modeled and mapped.

If you leave it with me I will find the maps and let you know what goes where. Anything in particular you cannot find?:engel016:

Yes please,... I have succesfully mapped the top side of the wings into place and the fuselage...what i need to do now is to get the tail done right, as it appears to be mirrored in the freeware version, so this may be I'll have to do with a plain grey tail. The underside of the wings I have also mapped, but not the greatest accuracy I do admit, so the gun covers do not meet.... but i'm not too worried about that. The thing is that there's still loads of "bits" of irish green still showing up all over the underside and next to the cockpit there's still a green sign that says
"Walkway forward".... i will post a screenshot of how far I.ve got to....
