ciao to all....

like allways..i'm practicing on how to use..some nice birds availabel..for my carrier operations...

well i was trying to take of..with alphasim intruder and prowler....but..i don't know why..with the accelleration package, i'm not able to use...the catapult...so i finish in the water...

i'm able to take of with razbam intruder....

i followed the same iter..that i follow when i want to take of..with captain sim f-18...or with microsft hornet...but it doesn't work with alphasim planes.....
for sure it's just my mistake..and i miss something!!!

thanks in advance for any help

alex

There are a couple of parts and code associated with that carrier function that need to be used as part of the model for them make use of the carrier fully in accel.
There is a possibility they were not used, i was not involved in this models production , nor did i purchase one so i have no means of verifying this supposition.

Most likely the "catapult" feature has not been implemented in the model.
However, there is a solution.

A bit of context: if you want an aircraft to use the catapult, there are two possibilities:
- the 3D model is built with some specific parts that FSX can automatically recognize as launch bar.
- the aircraft.cfg includes a special section for defining the location of the launch bar.

The second possibility above is your solution :) You have to find an aircraft that has this section defined in its aircraft.cfg, and you simply have to copy-paste this section into the aircraft.cfg of your aircraft. Of course you'll have to find the appropriate coordinates, but this is simple, you just have to make some tests.

thanks to all

it's jsut a shame that alphasim..give not a kind of support in that....
with fs9 everyhtring was easier...but it's ok..ill try to fix that problem

thanks

Here's an ironic twist....

There was a fix posted in the AlphaSim forums on how to edit the AIRCRAFT.CFG file to get these to work in Acceleration - problem is, no forum anymore....:cost1:

The logic alternative would be for AlphaSim to post a patch on their website....

I never got the Alpha A-6, but did make a note of the info, when I was playing with some other aircraft.

Whether this is an edited version, or the correct info for the Alpha A-6 I can't say, but what I have written down is:

[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot=15.43, 0.00, -6.00
launch_bar_lug=17.00, 0.00, -7.92

...or you could get Ron's (RAZBAM) A-6 pack, which worked from day 1 with the Accel carriers and launch assist. :d

I have the Alphasim EA-6B Prowler but not the A-6. I have no problems launching from the default carrier. Landing is another matter entirely but that's because I'm a crap pilot :mixedsmi:

Make sure you have this in the Prowler's aircraft.cfg

[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot=0.90, 0.00, -0.09
launch_bar_lug=0.90, 0.00, -4.09

[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot=0.90, 0.00, -0.09
launch_bar_lug=0.90, 0.00, -4.09

those lines are already present in my prowler aircraft cfg file...but it doens't work....

mm seems i can only fly it from airport....ok.. :-(

thanks to all

when i make a launch bar edit i use a simple rule of thumb , take the nose wheel contact coordinate / subtract a foot of Z for the pivot coodinate / add 1 foot of X for the lug coordinate , usually works out pretty well

If the lines are there, this is surely that the coordinates are incorrect. The launch bar works only if it's at a correct position. If the coordinates are wrong, you will never manage to trigger the catapult.

Try the coordinates given by IanP, or try the advise from N332DW, look for the coordinates of the front gear (they are in the aircraft.cfg too).

this is what i read on my aircraft cfg fil

<o:p> </o:p>
<o:p>it seems to be ok..but it doesn't work...</o:p>

If it doesn't work then it's not OK.
What are the coordinates of your front gear wheel ?

Looking at your co-ordinates (that's what these numbers are - distance fore/aft, distance left/right, distance up/down) then the numbers I posted above look about right except that the lug position needs a little tweaking. Try these and let us know the results please... Note, however, that not only do I not have the Alpha Intruder anyway, but I'm currently in another country and don't have FS either so these are educated guesstimates! :d

[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot=15.00, 0.00, -6.00
launch_bar_lug=17.00, 0.00, -7.65

They should at least come into contract with the deck and launch you, although it may be a bit messy and require some tweaking...
