I think we better use this post for future, repaints, future projects, suggestions, requests etc.

If anyone notice a problem after installing my RO145 texture into the folder L-39LR the quick fix is this:

Copy the "texture" file from inside any default texture folder, "biele" for example and paste it to ro145 folder and select to replace when asked. ("texture" file it,s read ony file usualy a notepad typre file.)

Then I'd love to suggest/request the following ...

Thx..I dont know about the resolution. It,s the regular size 1024X1024 and about 4mb, wich is what a good quality 32MB BMP file has .

Another fix for my first two uploads if you have frame rate issues.. I,ve reworked the VC texture file wich is included.
I made it twice as big 2048X2048 so I could get the details on the ejection seat. File name is L39Ext11 and it has 16 MB.. Replace it with one from any default texture folder .I,m sure that,s the culprit. I still have no issue on my sytem even with a file big like that. Uploading stuff to soon can brings this kind of upsets.

You can see the modified seat on left and default one on the right..It,s just that and some small other non vital enhacements you can replace it without missing much..If you will download the Lithuanian AF skin you may have to do this again.

Slow progress on this one.

Does anyone know why the lighting is resversed - ie top wing in shade and wrong fusalage side sunny?

Gajit, it appears that the texture.cfg for your paint does not have a fallback path to the bump maps in the Lotus L-39 folder. When bump maps aren't found you get this inversion of lighting problem. The texture.cfg file for your paint should look like this...

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\..\Lotus L-39\texture.bump
fallback.2=..\..\Lotus L-39\texture

You can also copy the one from the texture.biele folder into your own and it should work.

Cheers,

-Mike

Thanks Gajit, glad you're enjoying it! That paint looks excellent, and has always been one of my favourites among the privately owned jets, ever since I first started browsing the net for reference over a year ago. Actually I can't remember why I didn't contact the owner and do that one myself, haha. Can't wait for the finished textures. :)

Thanks Yago9 for the superb Romanian Air Force L-39 :

1.
Superb Silver Shinning effect !
2.
Very Good Job detailing the Ejection Seats !
3.
Excellent "Mimic" repaint of the helmet to represent the current
Us Made HGU-55 Helmet.

About helmets, do youthink you can eventually create "Mimic" repaints for :

the Soviet Era "ZsH-5" Helmet
( still used by Romanian Officers and other military L-39 operators )
and
the Russain current "Zsh-7AP" Helmet
( also widely used by many military L-39 operators )

I know the oxygen mask could be a problem but at least could you
try it without the O2 mask ?

I am sure that many "Lotus L-39 Fans" would appreciate it.

ha,ha..I can sure start on it now and still finish it about one hour later..if you want me to..:jump: Do you know what this is ? It,s the front fuselage and rear, tied perfectly together for fast matching. All i have to do is put the right layer on top,cut it in sections and paste it on the main layer of the paint kit..Add shadows and wheatering and click save as DDS..I had this prepared before I saw your working on it,so I,ve stoped. This way I can give it a photoreal feel, more meat on the bone..the lithuanian one was made this way.

Hi Yago,

Shocking to finally see the *real* L-39 come peeping thru from underneath its fake skin.. A Great White in albatross clothing ! Weeeeeee!!!!!!.... :isadizzy:

Great job, man ! :applause: ( not to mention great job of the RW livery designer ! )

Tell me something, in FS9 the good thing about photoreal paints is that we get to see all rivets, lines, bumps, dents, glints, etc., exactly like we see on the real thing. FSX comes with its own stuff like that to make it look 'almost' photoreal, right ?

Do i understand you remove all panellining and rivets from the photo (unlike you'd do for a FS9 photoreal paint ) and use the layered lining, rivets, weathering, etc., from the paint kit ?....

Just curious, working on a first FSX model, time to start texturing is nearing, wondering about going photoreal or not.....

Thanks mucho for your great Albatros repaints ! :ernae:

Cheers,
Jan

It,s not much photo real stuff in my FSX repaints..an accent here and there, things that doesnt make sense to paint by hand when i can use the real part..like the nose of the shark skin, the tail on the romanian 145..or i can let a reflection slip here and there It depends at the moment . FSX bump maps just complets the job and makes it easier.F86 ,s coming to town ..??.

Then I'm blind because I don't see any new skins for Albatros.

If you go on the FlightSim.Com website,

select the "Files" box,
then
the "Advance file search" option,
then
select the "FSX : Modern Military" chapter,
then
click "Start Search" box at the bottom of the page.

It there !

yep for that we need a good talented painter like yago9 and at least underside & upperside shots to create that from only one shot from the side difficult

but it is nice livery no question

It,s not much photo real stuff in my FSX repaints..an accent here and there, things that doesnt make sense to paint by hand when i can use the real part..like the nose of the shark skin, the tail on the romanian 145..or i can let a reflection slip here and there It depends at the moment . FSX bump maps just complets the job and makes it easier.

Ok, thanks ! Really great to see the difference between photoreal and handpainting has become almost non existent in FSX !

F86 ,s coming to town ..??.

Well, not jet... ehh..yet. Doing a, more or less, simple 'test' model first to get acquainted with FSX/SDK/Export. F-86 sure to follow if everything goes according to plan. :)

Frecce Tricolori livery looks beautiful ! ( is it fictitious ?... )

Cheers,

the Frecce Livery is semi fictious since real frecce flies Aermacchi MB339PAN but I think it suits the L-39 at least as good as it suits the MB339 if not better :)

Gajit, try using the Vjazma Rus paint as a guide for the top of the fuselage, it has a similar layout. That is a crunchy spot, sorry. It's one of those cases where the UVs had to compromise a bit to keep the texture vertices down and performance up.

Normally the insignia is on the top left wing and bottom right wing.

The outer third of the wing would be about right.

Now my first paint might not be as exotic and colorful as others that I've seen here, but I really wanted to do this one. It's a L-39 from Skyline Aviation, a Dutch company that owns a couple of L-39s for EW training and target towing for the air force. The paint needs some tweaking, but here already a shot:

Hello,

Some hours ago I finished my skins for the "Russian cockpit".

I have upload my work on http://www.flightsim.com and now it's necessary to wait that moderateurs publishes my work.

This pack of skins is named "Russian Cockpit".

I tried also of uploader on the Web site of sim-outhouse.com but as I have no account for uploader with this site I wait for my "username" and "password" from the Administrators.

I am really sorry for this delay but I know only these two Web sites, if you know the other Web sites where I can uploader my "Russian textures" you can give me addresses, maybe that the operation will more fast go.

Best regards.

Olivier.

Its that freeware scenery you used for your screens too mate, I don't know who it was by, it was designed for Horizon VFR Gen X by the look of it and mines the default. All I want now is the Alpha Romeo 8C Competzione lol, I mean for real too (I wish only in my dreams)!!

Best wishes and thanks again for the great great TG paint ... regards Pete.

It was on tonight here, and Jeremy Clarkson started talking to a Quite attractive young American girl, he said, "Ohh your American, you've come home, welcome to the free world, you'll enjoy it here, we like to have people from the colonies!" He's so funny, He should be knighted in my opinion!

I still have my grey VC after trying diffrent options.

And I am not a novice on these matters

A very detailed, very descriptive, step by step instructions to install
is absolutely needed.

Read this......

May obtained a light aircraft (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/wiki/Light_aircraft) pilot's licence (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/wiki/Private_Pilot_Licence) in October 2006 having trained at White Waltham Airfield (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/wiki/White_Waltham_Airfield). Although he had not qualified for night flying at the time, he was still able to fly a Cessna 182 (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/wiki/Cessna_182) in a Top Gear challenge with Richard Hammond (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/wiki/Richard_Hammond) as a passenger. He owns a Luscombe 8A 'Silvaire' (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/wiki/Luscombe_8#Specifications:_Model_8A_.28Silvaire.29 ) and an American Champion 8KCAB Super Decathlon (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/wiki/American_Champion_Decathlon) with the registration number G-OCOK, a play on his trademark phrase used on Top Gear.

Whilst waiting for a Brit re-paint, this is not quite what I had in mind, perhaps it should use Jame's registration G-OCOK!!!

Hello VaporZ,

I can explain you the procedure step by step so that you can use my "green cockpit".

Step 1:
When you bought this addon and when your L-39 is correctly installed on your FSX you possess 5 versions as indicated below:
a) Lotus L-39
b) Lotus L-39-LR
c) Lotus L-39-multi
d) Lotus L-39-race
e) Lotus L-39-SS
IMPORTANT: To look the screenshot #1

Step 2:
If you open the Lotus L-39 folder you find another folder which is called: texture
In this texture folder there are all the originals textures for all the Lotus cockpits.
IMPORTANT: To look the screenshot #2

Step 3:
You drag and drop this original texture folder somewhere into your Hard-disk and rename this texture folder like that: "textureTopaze"

Step 4:
After downloading my folder zip, locate it, and extract the file into your "textureTopaze" folder.

Step 3:
Will get a warning about overwriting existing files. Just click OK or YES !!!

Step 4:
You drag and drop your textureTopaze folder into the Lotus L-39 folder like that: Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Lotus L-39\textureTopaze
IMPORTANT: To look the screenshot #3

Step 5:
As example we can use the skin created by Zlin: that you can download at this address: http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=137907
IMPORTANT: To look the screenshot #4

Step 6:
Once the textures of Zlin installed, you can find her folder here : ...\SimObjects\Airplanes\Lotus L-39\texture.hun119 and you have absolutely to modify the file texture.cfg of Zlin like that and off course save it before launch your FSX:

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\..\Lotus L-39\texture.bump
fallback.2=..\..\Lotus L-39\textureTopaze

Step 7:
You launch your FSX and you chosen the Lotus L-39 with Zlin's textures and if everything is OK, my cockpit will be installed correctly.
IMPORTANT: To look the screenshot #5

Step 8:
If you meet any problems, send me an message on this forum and I help you again...........

IMPORTANT:
Here we are, now I hope that you will be able to install my "Green cockpit" without problems, if you want to install my "Green cockpit" with the Lotus L-39-LR version you have to modify the file texture.cfg like indicated to the step 6.

Best regards, Olivier AKA Skulleader.

Thanks to Olivier alias Skulleader for the installation instructions of its "Topaze" cockpit.

It worked perfectly.

One important thing :

1. It is important to kept the original Lotus "texture"
2. Make a copy of it to create the new "textureTopaze"
3. Keep both "texture" and "textureTopaze" on your files.

This enable you to keep grey cockpits ( texture ) for private L-39
and change to "aqua" cockpits ( textureTopaze ) for eastern bloc
L-39 operators by simply changing the appropriate lines on the
cgf texture file of each airplaine as you wish.

Thanks again

Yes you have right !!!
it's my procedure that I created, you have very well understood what I wanted to explain to you.
You have to have 2 texture folder , 1 texture folder for the cockpit originals of lotus (grey) and 1 textureTopaze folder for my cockpit.

You explain very well the situation and procedure ........

I would indeed like to modify the texts which are in English and to replace them by the Cyrillic but I know not the Russian .......

PS: If you meet some errors with my cockpit please write me.....

I was thinking Bob can do that one easier since he has that black perfect texture already made.

Ok ,here,s another wishful thinking L39,for fun only..

Question..i,ve heard that in U.S, private owned jets are not allowed with functional ejection seats ..is it true?

US registered private L-39s are legally allowed to have "hot" seats, possibly because they fly under the experimental category rules. Most owners elect to remove the charges though, primarily due to some fairly intense maintenance requirements and inspection schedules I think.

Some owners do retain them.

Thank you..it seems a bit ridiculous to deny someone a safety feature like that.I should,ve taken that bet.

Agreed Yago, it would be nice to have the option, but the VRS seats in the L-39 don't exactly have the best track record in use, and are not zero/zero capable like the Martin Baker ones. Unless I was at high altitude, at least 2000 feet, I don't think I'd want to use one. In many cases it would be safer to stick with the plane if it's still controllable. She's a tough little thing. :)

Cheers,

Hello,

I am a newbie among you and me wish all the members of this forum a great hello.
There are some minutes I bought L-39 and I find the skins of Yago9 very beautiful.

I noticed that your stairs red are perfect for your last skin, but I noticed that the shark version does not possess these stairs red, you think changing these stairs red for your shark version as you can see it on this photo ?

Real Shark model with stairs red:

And your model without stairs red:

I didn,t have them made at that time, sry the idee came over me a a bit later and I didn,t know if it was even possible to work those...Good news..You can add those red stairs to any model..Just drop the file L38Ext9 that I will upload with my next upload NX138TB (the one with number 119 on the nose) , to my 119 shark texture or any other you want red stairs on. You can also download the green interior the Skulleaders uploaded at flightsim if you want to be dead on accurate on that livery.

Jessus..Really, do you have to poke me with a stick every single time I do something for you ? You just gave me a mild stroke..And for what reason ? Does it really matter ? Do you like what you see ? Yes ? Then get it ,if not move along. If those shots can,t tell the story I dont know what else can..Maybe you need some eye drops since they don,t look very good in your avatar shot..

LMAO indeed..if I have to describe a texture in order for him to enjoy it..then i should stop painting and start narrating.I bet the frame rates would be much better with a spoken texture..

32bit DDS for fancy stuff ..the DXT1 did not do it for me..since i have to save a texture a milllion times before i finish it,the quality of the DXT1 would be horrible..If u do it from one shot, sure you can use DXT1 with out much quality loss.

Oli-TUB
August 20th, 2009, 06:46
What the heck is going on here? As great as your paints are (and they are) I don't get why you can't accept that everybody is not thinking your way. Maybe people do prefer a tag about photorealism or not in the filename. Maybe they do prefer DXT1 (for fps improvement - something that you strangely enough don't see despite complaining that the 32bit green pit does drop your frames :bump: ). Let them think that way. You don't have to change anything on your end if you don't want to. Just let em talk and/or ignore it. But why react so ... huffy all the time? Nobody did criticize your wonderful work, so I don't really get what all the fuss is about ...

P.S.: Your comment about DXT1 really cracked me up. When you do serious editing you don't save into lossy standards after each step making the image worse and worse over time. You stay with TIF and other lossless formats and do a single compression when you're really ready. You're making it sound as if DXT1 was completely useless based on the completely wrong workflow ...

Get off my back Oli,and mind your own businees like you should have done from the start.Enjoy my stuff or not but don,t give me advise on how to do what I do for years..That focus over my textures is not normal ,instead of obsessing on how to modify my stuff your better off doing your own things.Your leak of respect was obvious from tha start since you decide to violate the copy rights I,ve listed with each paint. "Pls do not mody and redistribute this files without asking permission first " You did both without shame..You have uploaded the insides of my work ,my files, as screenshot on your posts. How rude and obnoxious that jesture could be.Then brag that you redistributed privately my modified files to people when i told you not to do so.. You are the last person from this forum who can point a finger at me..Shut up and go away..pls! In years time,if will be still around , you will also learn that is no benefit for anyone if you cross hornes with me.None.But again ,new youngsters will be join the fray on driving old Yago9 nuts...

Maybe some people should wait until the uploads are up before shooting the breeze.Did you read the names of the files ?..it,s says photoreal in the files name ,what more do you want ? To draw you a picture on a black board ? Not to mention the question was darn useless from the start..You like what you see on those shots, or you dont..What, difference would it make on your decision the style in wich the texture was made?..I honestly still fail to see the relevance of the question..Now two youngsters decide to explain me that was a legit normal question and I was over reacting. That part worned me out. It,s an uphill battle.Instead of me just painting it,s equally important for some of you that i should do some explaining meanwhile.Like talking you into downloading my files or something ? Why have things simple when they can get complicated ?..I,m better off doing stuff for myself like I,ve always said I should..

Since I,ve already start receiving forcefully demands on to correct the CFG on my last uploads,i have to remind you on reading the whole "Read me" file before complaining on that..specialy this part..

ATTN : DISCLAIMER
-Configuration bellow is for orientativ purpose only,if copied, you should double check it to mach your aircraft.cfg settings specialy for
(model=.. and sim=..) entry .

Reason beyond all this is that I have all my aircrafts so modified from the original package it,s sometimes hard for me to get it right as the original cfg file..so you have to double check me on this and adjust it to your own settings.I appologise for this,I tried to get it right but it seems I didn,t.It shouldn,t be a major problem since adding custom file to your sim ,should be the first thing we all learned from tutorials.:d.Thank you !

P.S
The texture notepad file included in each texture of mine should make it compatible (no missing textures) with all L39 models i would think, since they all are at my end..

Yago you are degrading the quality of discourse on this forum and really dragging down the fun factor here. People compliment you and fawn over you left and right yet all you do is misinterpret them and attack them. People are being nice to you and you attack them while complaining they are attacking you!

People politely ask you simple questions and you respond with rude, totally uncalled for arguments and insults. I think people are afraid to call you on it because they believe as you just stated that you would take your toys and go home.

You keep calling everyone youngsters, yet you are the one acting like a little cry baby anytime someone responds with something other than "All hail the mighty Yago, master photo painter!"

I have two choices here 1/ I go eat 3 cans of baked beans or 2/ I go read all your posts.
Same result in the end except with the beans at least I get some nourishment.

Moderators if you must ban me for this so be it, that will be unfortunate but I can't stand watching this guy being such an azz all the time. Totally uncalled for.

So if I am banned so long to everyone, thanks for your help and entertainment. I enjoyed my time here until recently when all the drama began.

If that's what you truley want, I mean be honest with yourself here, if that's what you truely want why don't you just post a picture of a completed skin, state where you've uploaded it and leave it at that? Don't respond to anyone.

You ask stuff like "Photo real pro or con?" then freak when there is a responce. You give advice but if it's not fully understood or someone has a different opinion you freak. If you don't want to be involved in the community other than to release paints don't join the conversations then. I don't understand this at all.

Most of us come here to relax and enjoy the community. We could just shut the internet off and fly our planes or tweak FS till our fingers fall off but we don't, we come here to virtually interact.
You have skills that many here are thankfull for and enjoy if all you want to do in this forum is share that, fine, do that. But if you want to interact could you please put a little thought towards the many others here who don't want to read this crap constantly.

I will point out that you expect me to adjust to your style yet you give no room for others to have their own style. Remember the golden rule "Do onto others..." you want others to respect your way of doing things yet you give no respect to other's way of doing things.

In the end we will all be the way we are but I am the type that does not like seeing people abused for no apperant reason so I had to throw my 2 cents in. I'm all out of pennies so I'll drop it now.

1.Brother,did you ever get one of my textures? yes? then where did you get it from ? SOH..did you read what i say there ?..uploads for SOH only. That should ring a bell i would think.A complet texture hmm? No work in progress shots? Interesting..I can do that.
2.Some of you are relaxing in here by giving others grif ,for years. On purpose or not it doesnt matter.Everyone should be allowed to relax in here as much as you ,the ones whom just relax only and critic from sides with no contribution whatsover to the library.
3. I,ve asked question about pro and cons on photoreal stuff over this L39 model specifically..Someone grabbed that chance to trash out the whole photoreal work for years like mine ,Bob,s and others..No mention of L39,just a rambling thought on how much he never liked photoreal stuff, then went a bit further and said he only enjoys his work alone,no matter how inaccurate or bad it is..And you find this guys remarks normal and cool on that given context..hmmm.I must be something definitely wrong with me then..cause i found borderline with something else..and yes he,s a youngster too.No wonder some of you are peeing all over the carpet ,it must be a generational challenge of some sort..Fine but bring on the goods first..
4.About my style..my style is I don,t like others to have their style with me..I don,t jump at your jugular from your first non-sense,no.But I,ll give you small sign your on the wrong path of thoughts with me.He stops,i stop. But you, from ouside, you jump right in head first, with out knowing the whole story..here comes the drama queen ,crazy as ever..

You keep saying 'youngsters'. You're 40- that's not old. If 21 is young and 40 is old, what does that make people in thier 30's? Middle-aged?

It must be a generational challenge of sorts to understand that just because one is 'younger' [than who, you?], they are not necessarily completely naieve and therefore, perfectly able to participate in a discussion or have an opinion on such.

Pet peeves aside, I am staying out of this discussion now. It's gotten completely off track (I'm partially to blame, I accept that). Threads that go off track like this never have good karma.

I can relate to what Yago is saying. It's a matter of perspective you 20 something guys won't or can't understand until you actually achieve middle age like myself(I'm closing in on 50 YOA in the Fountain of Middle Age) and many others here. It's not a matter of being able to hold an intelligent conversation or not, it's about the manner in which some and some things are addressed. I can promise that when some of you reach this age, you'll see things quite a bit differently and maybe more stern than some of us. LOL.
