Is it possible to animate a [platform] in a ships .cfg file?
Or to link it to a part animation?

Just a thought.....
If the " Dynamic " addon is utilised in the .cfg, does this animate the platforms?
If it doesn't, how can you land on the pitching deck?:iidea:

Collin,
maybe you would call the word [platform] in the cfg is something of a "virtual part" that is programaticly called by a .DLL something like the aircraft [contact points]
:costumes: I don't even know how to make a platform from scrach much less make it move.
On a heavier note, Collin I hope that you and yours are alright after this mornings attacks, were with you fellers %100

I'm ok here Bruce. Its just the yobs at night I have to be concerned with.:tgun2:
Ok back to topic...
The early Essex class had a catapult built into the hangar deck so that recon aircraft could be launched while normal flight deck activities were taking place.
This cat ran athwartship with each end being a foldup, this would be lowered when the aircraft was mounted onto the cat.
Thought...wadif the cat was animated to fold down and could the [platform] be actuated with it?
Totally useless question I know:costumes:

I like the idea of using the hanger deck cat but them freakin platforms may be an issue now look into the USNpack from Javier Fernandez his carriers you could go below decks to the pilots ready room and CIC but that could have been under the island.
maybe you could define a platform under the flightdeck and just not use that section of flightdeck above, But for your purposes of Korean War I don't think the navy used the cats anymore

I would like at some time to be able to start the aircraft in the hangar, move it to the deckedge lift and have it bring me up to the flightdeck. But its the platform in the .cfg file that gives the model the solidity for your aircraft to be able to move around on, so the lift platform would have to move up and down as well as forward.
You can have quite a few platforms written into the cfg, the furious model has 11. You can takeoff on one and land on a different one quite easily, move across onto another provided the gap between them isn't too big to damage the aircraft.
"maybe you could define a platform under the flightdeck and just not use that section of flightdeck above"
This isn't a problem, the problem arises possibly in the MB when you have to define the takeoff point, though this also could be aided by the .cfg takeoff point with a second one added.
"But for your purposes of Korean War I don't think the navy used the cats anymore."
These cats were removed by 45, the Essex ships that completed after WW2 had a number of alterations which included no sponsons under the island and the majority of the 20mm removed.

Well we could go with the platform under deck to serve this purpose. But as for the animated folding catapult... only thing I know of that work on scenery for animation is tick13 rotation..... no... sod that....
also we can have animation controlled by radio frequency... platform could always be there since it is invisible... but it is invisible so no matter there.
Check out scenerydesign.org! Ya want to download CAT (fs2002 version)
cat2k2.zip by Arno
Been using that to call some new animation I am working on.:)

Hi all,
Was just wondering. We see rotating radar arrays in scenery,Could the way that is done be applied to a ship if it is done as a piece of scenery.

Thanks Wozza, I'll have a good read of that later.:icon29:
Buddha, rotating parts are not quite the same, the lift has to be able to support the players a/c within the cfs2 enviroment and at the moment only a [platform] in the cfg can do that for a ship, thanks for the thought though:)
