the large collider still doesn't work, even after a year. and they say it will be another year (best case scenario) before it will do what it's supposed to do anyhow:

Reminds me of that Monty Python sketch about the machine that goes "bing!" and does nothing else:173go1:. But I bet the bing!-machine was cheaper to build and maintain, so in my book it's more useful than LHC.
