Hi

The Airfield Construction Group (ACG) this week released its first 'free to download' scenery;

81st Tactical Fighter Wing, RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge for both FSX and FS9.

We have been working with the Cold War Museum on the Bentwaters site, which is run by the Bentwaters Aviation Society (http://www.bentwaters-as.org.uk). Unprecedented access to the site, which is now privately owned, has been given to us and that has been really worthwhile. It has enabled us to produce high resolution, realistic textures, that have been carefully worked on to refresh them back to their original time period using information from historic photographs too.

What's included:
Accurate custom built buildings on both airfields
Custom Trees and Fencing
Night lighting
Ground imagery provided by Justflight for both versions from their VFR Real Scenery product
Custom Landclass
Accurate AFCAD with parking placed from official airfield plans
AI for both airfields (over 100 repaints)
Realistic Weekly flight plans

Please register on the forum at http://www.airfieldconstructiongroup.org then look in ACG Airfields - Historic once your account is activated

(please note: due to spammers registration needs to be accepted by admin so please be patient and wait for your account to be activated)

thanks

ACG

Hi Guys

Downloaded and installed

framerates are excellent as are the visual quality:ernae:

just a few of the tree groups in the centre area are a little elevated here but i am now investigating if UK2000 airfields part 2 has anything for either airfield pushing them up before i give steavo and the gang a "help" message

Regards
Rick

Thanks for the kind words, the FSX version has been made specifcally for SP2/Accel through the FSX gamepack. The FS9 version is Fs9 code through the Fs9 gamepack. There is no transparency issues, I cant comment on out the box FSX and SP1 though. Regarding the floating trees, I have not seen this myself. The only parts that are ported from Fs9 is the AI models.

Cheers

Really enjoying the scenery but one thing I noticed was that the installer places in start-up, the pdf manual, so every time you boot the pc the manual pops up.
In Vista go: Windows Defender/Tools/Software Explorer/Startup menu and disable it there.

Isn't Bentwaters the base where the "incident" happened in 1980? I guess I'll have to Google it... :wiggle:

Edit: Yep, here it is...

They look great, I will DL later and try them with the Horizon VFR photo scenery and UK 2000 vol 2 installed. I will report back with any problems later.

Unfortunately they do not line up with the Horizon photo scenery, adding the JF ground insert just makes it worse.

The tower viewpoints at both airfields are set to 130ft above ground which doesn't seem realistic.

Many of the hold-short nodes are oriented in the wrong direction.

Lots of texture bleeds where the surface changes from asphalt to concrete.

For any problems with the scenery please visit the forum. Horizon VFR I cant comment on but both bases DO line up with JF VFR.

I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge for almost 15 years. Taxing on the taxiways makes it seem like I never left. I was able to see many of the buildings I worked in. Great job !!!
Can't wait for RAF Wattisham to come out (I was a member of the Anglia Gliding clube for a couple of years). I was on the workteam that painted the bear on the 'Aggressor' Sqd. tab-vee door.
Thanks again...well done !!
